Rentboy86, those two lines have never been sung, going back to Kelly Bishop on the OBC--those two lines are meant to be spoken.
*sigh* poor Charlotte..."PLEE me the music, gimme a chance to come THREEEW"? Not so much. SO not impressive on this recording, and it's not just M & the M. Everything she does = badbadbad.
Glad they included the extra montage bits and whatnot, but geez, I say save your $$. Nothing about this recording grabbed me at all, except Mara Davi.

Sounds like PLAY to me. Sorry you don't like her.
The only part where she is really...odd is "You cannot go to the movie/Until you finish your homework" - but then I'm used to Donnabelting that.

which prevented us from hearing "He doesn't like the way I look, he doesn't like the way I dance, he doesn't like the way I..."
It's a glitch? I just assumed it wasn't on the recording.

Ok...not gonna read through ALL this because I'm in the middle of my big ass English paper...but I'll take a break cause it's kind of bothering me.
The original album's Opening is so much faster because they sped it up because they believed no one wanted to hear people dancing for that long. That's also why they also cut alot of the dialouge.
Yea, I had the same thought. When we first started rehearsals for ACL I was going INCREDIBLY fast (aka the Original recording's tempo) for the "Step, Kick, Kick...", and it was about double the speed of the music lol. The director pretty much looked at the pianist and said "Well, someone's listened to the recording WAY too many times." (which was SO true)
Hope no one's talked about that yet

Not just on the recording. I can't stand her voice in the show. Love her, love the acting, love the dancing - but god, the singing. When I heard the recording, my first thought was that Charlotte sounded AMAZING on this song, just because it's so much better than how it is live.

Charlotte sounds worse in the show? Ehhh....
Does anyone think that the beginning of "At The Ballet" sounds very computerized? I love the orchestrations on the OBCR - not so much for this recording.
I think Tony Yazbeck needs more to sing. His voice is beautiful.
Very excited to see this show.

I actually thought that Charlotte sounded better in the show.
She grunted when I saw her. Sounds funny but she put lots of emotion into that number and I liked it.

Well I just got the Revival Recording...and I've only listened to the Opening (it's not even over yet lol.) But so far I love it.
Mainly because I can finally dance along and do my lines w/ it
. Although I'm not a big fan of this Zach...

The recording is good.
Charlotte is a very good singer. She just isn't on the level vocally of Donna McKechnie.
Truth be told, there are VERY few dancers who have such a diverse vocal range, style, and technique like McKechnie.
Donna sounds amazing with her soprano on the FOLLIES recording. She is one of a kind, when it comes to triple threats.

The opening makes me yawn, the tempo is just too slow and boring. In the original recording (I never saw the original production) the fast tempo during the opening helped you grasp the fast-paced energy of an actual audition and in a way it mirrored how fast all those thoughts were coming through the dancers' minds.
I agree with LJay in that Donna McKechnie's range is simply hard to find in any other dancer, her voice is spectacular (I'm currently reading "Time Steps" and apparently the fact she could dance so well and hit a high C hurt her career sometimes because people did not know what to do with her...I digress). Charlotte just can't match McKechnie but provides a pleasant "Music and the Mirror."
I loved that "Nothing" was included within the Montage and enjoyed Natalie Cortez' voice (though her characterization does not really match Priscilla Lopez). But my biggest disappointment was "Dance 10, Looks 3," since I never saw the original production I have Pam Blair's rendition of the song imprinted on my mind, Goldyn is slightly bland, she sings the song but that is all she does (this is all based on the recording) and I found that to be a let-down.

Posted: 10/10/06 at 9:55pmWell...as I said early (as well as a bunch of people) they sped it up because they were still selling to people who didnt only love the theater, so they sped it up and took out ALOT of dialogue to make it more sellable. But now that it's mainly just theater addicts they made it the normal show pace...because at that pace it is HARD to keep up.
