Yeah the fact that people were booing ALW before the letter was read tells you that this was more of a CHF friendly crowd. And I'm pretty done with all the faux outrage that this cast has been throwing ALW's way, with this latest being that he was calling the entire show when he was clearly saying the "costly mistake" was the timing with COVID"

His letter was poorly written and the words, "costly mistake" should have been left out. ALW could have said COVID added to the stress of doing a new musical and few would complain. On the other hand, money comes first with ALW.  Also, it was an insult to the cast and crew that ALW didn't attend the final performance with giving the reason why.  If he didn't want the audience to know, at least the reason could be shared with the cast and crew.

I can understand the cast being frustrated if he really did berate them previously when the New York Post review came out, and then the way the closing announcement was handled, and now hearing on closing night that it was all just a costly mistake to him. He has issued a statement where he says his comments were misinterpreted, but I think as a producer he really did mean it was a costly mistake. There’s no question the production lost money, but one can feel that way as a producer and still be proud of the work from a creative standpoint. Both can be true."

This whole thing has gone from bad to worse.  

The original statement if people actually read it and listened to it in its entirety (and not simply tweeting out the "costly mistake" line out of context), it was clear ALW was talking about opening a new show when the pandemic was not quite over/restrictions not lifted, etc was whats turned into a "costly mistake."  

But being read in this environment where some of the cast have just gone from being immature and unprofessional to deplorable and pathetic just added another duraflame log to an engulfed fire.
