Can you post a link to the snippet? I'm definitely curious as well, and I've been a fan of (some) ALW stuff in the past, so interested to see what kind of take he's doing here.

I assume you mean the snippet at the end of this article?

Nope. The first phrase is a modulation of “In My Own Little Corner”

I heard “In My Own Little Corner,” too. Good to know I’m not crazy! I don’t mind a nod to a beloved adaptation in a larger score, but I do wonder if it’s wise to choose that particular bit to introduce your version of the story for the first time? Especially when the lyrics that accompany it are kind of... opaque? “Call me bad Cinderella, I will not say good-bye, I’ve been living since I met you, I’ll forget you.” Forget the context of the show, but what a strange and confusing collection of lyrics to introduce your show with...
Ah well. I love Cinderella adaptations (although I’m usually lukewarm to ones that go for a contemporary setting*) and I’ve enjoyed many ALW musicals in the past. I’ve been keeping my eye on this one and I hope I will be impressed.
* Nevermind it seems they intend to go with a fairytale aesthetic based on an interview with several members of the team. We’ll see, it definitely sounds like a fresh take on the material and I welcome that.

I heard, "I've been leaving since I met you". Not really an original idea for a lyric; I've heard the phrase used before... like most of Lloyd-Webber's stuff. ![]()

I’m not a huge fan of Carrie Hope Fletcher, I feel she’s a little too sugarcoated for my liking, but I will say that it’s great to see a body positive, curvy actress playing the lead in a fairytale musical.

I wonder who she's singing those thoughts to? If it's Charming, I'm not really buying into her character.

I think we should ask Man in Chair. If only we had a clearer clip where someone didnt drop a cane on the most important word....

So I wasn't at all interested in this but then I saw who's writing it. Hrmm. Too bad ALW hasn't written a score that I've loved in years.

I couldn’t agree more about how great it is to see someone with her body type playing this lead role. This is great.

Don't get me wrong, Cinderella is my favorite princess, but between Disney's (excellent) live-action rendering, the 2013 Broadway Rodgers and Hammerstein show, this project, and the Camilla Cabello movie in production, I can't help but feel we're getting inundated with her. It's not like there aren't a hundred other fairytales that haven't had even one fresh adaptation yet.

While I would've preferred a completely new story, I am intrigued by the plot variations they've described, and that 19 seconds of piano in the clip got my attention and quickly became lodged in my brain. Haters gonna hate, but I loved it.

Cinderella is my favorite story, and Cinderella's my favorite literary character. I only like classic, faithful, and "once upon a time" versions, but this may have a modern story I like, and I'm glad it's still set "once upon a time". I love that the actress playing Cinderella is a big girl. The only thing from this I don't like is the music from that clip. It sounds way too modern and I just plain don't like the melody. And yes, the beginning of it sounds too much like "In My Own Little Corner"! Also, I can't tell if she's saying "living" or "leaving" when "living" is what it sounds like to me, though "leaving" does make more sense. I think she actually is talking about leaving the prince and not the stepfamily because this musical is about her deciding she doesn't need to transform for anybody. I am guessing she will decide she doesn't need to transform for the prince and goes after Sebastian the "adorable oddball" and the gay prince finally gets to be himself with the duke. Original? Yeah. But that's weird. Ok so there are two things I don't like from this, the music and that Cinderella doesn't get with a prince who loves her lol.

Carrie Hope Fletcher sings a snippet of Bad Cinderella from her kitchen. That's the song title, notnecessarily a reflection on quality. Bad Cinderella

Weird to hear another tune with yet ANOTHER quote from In My Own Little Corner in the second line. Is Andrew just trolling us now?

I just heard a fragment of ALW's song on the radio and instinctively sang "In My Own Little Corner" to it.

I'd argue it's both
