I'm wondering if either of these:

Might be planning to make their way in? I remember Michael Arden being attached to a production (maybe with Cole?) and Anthony Ramos being attached to another at some point but both of those have gone quiet?

such a great and classic movie. i'd definitely be interested in seeing it...
There is a major production currently in rehearsals at Steppenwolf in Chicago, too.
One of my most favorite plays. And I believe the last production was the David Suchet/Michael Sheen revival? So we're certainly due for a new production.
I wasn't aware of the Steppenwolf production, though they've been on a roll lately + with Robert Falls at the helm, I'm very intrigued and may need to find my way to Chicago in November...
(Also I *love* the idea of Cole as Mozart and showing off their acting chops in something so different....)
Interested in the Steppenwolf production. Any Arden production is on ice. Producer/investors talk of no financial success on his shows. They have all paid for their Tonys on the previous outings and now seek real financial success from his products, which have yet to be made. His first true new musical ( never produced ) from scratch is Versailles and people are not hopeful
I want to take a non-theater friend to see the Chiciago production. I feel like since it won the Best Play Tony it might be a solid first time theater experience?

Jury is still out on its recouping yet but MHE is most definitely a success story.

As Coffeebreak is defining it, success IS financial recoupment. Thus MHE is not yet defined as a success.

Would this be the original version or the (allegedly) weakened version that happened when Shaffer went back and "improved" it?

What is your deal with Michael Arden? You’ve been the leading doomsayer for MHE on this board, moving the goalposts of its failure from it not even making it to opening, to it closing quickly, to it not winning awards, and now not recouping at all, always cloaked in language implying you have inside knowledge. You’ve got your sights now set on Lost Boys, and apparently his directing career as a whole. What is up with you?

MHE has done its job. It will tour and be licensed and play over seas. It MIGHT still recoup on broadway but has created many other revenue streams!

Nothing. Just what I hear from producer friends who saw the recent workshop. No inside knowledge just a culmination of what I hear. I hope Lost Boys is great. the workshop was difficult to grasp as the script has holes the massive design will fill in.
Excited about it as a fan of the movie - as is Arden. Great creative but not financially doing it for investors. I am not sure how that shakes out in the long run.
No one is coming for him or his career - only you oddly coming for me. I'll say nothing more on the subject to help protect your worries and your connection to said project and person.

I honestly don't have any kind of a problem with you at all, but my thinking when I read your comment was that you do tend to focus negatively on Arden's productions. I don't have a problem with that, either; it's just an observation, not coming for you.

A bizarre deflection- I don’t know Arden and have no connection to any of his productions, nor have I ever claimed or implied I did.
And you seriously cannot say you don’t have inside knowledge while citing inside knowledge in the same post.
