well that makes very little sense. Staying open another month, especially September, with no chance of staying open for the holidays is pointless. You must have wrong info. If they weren't prepared to lose money until the holidays they'd have closed shop by now.

Ill be sad if it closes before i get to see it and form my own opinion of it. Unfortunately my next NY trip isnt until October 6th

"well that makes very little sense."
Nothing they've done thus far makes sense, why would they start now? Maybe they have just enough money to run until October 4th.

Any thoughts on wether a holiday limited engagement show will come after AG closes or an open run and either way, what show?
A holiday show in October?
A theater usually is dark in between shows...repairs, moving out/in. A month is not uncommon. So a holiday show coming in for November wouldn't be unheard of.
I am Scrooge. I hate holiday shows. (Only because it doesn't really seem to matter about quality -- just get them in and get them out. $$$$)
Maybe Beaches? It got excellent reviews and we need Shoshanna Bean back on Broadway.
Beaches didn't get "excellent" reviews

Thanks for the scoop, insider. I guess I'll hope the word makes its way to the rest of the company. It's never a *good* thing for your (open-ended) show to post a closing notice, but having a heads-up six weeks in advance would ease the blow.
Some posters seem (perpetually) perplexed by producers keeping a show open when there seems no hope of a profit, or even an end to weekly financial losses. It seems clear to me that, for some Broadway producers, money doesn't enter into their decision making. Are they breaking even?, did they lose money this week?, are they losing money every week? - it's immaterial to them. It's not the question they're asking. The lead producer on this show seemed intent on keeping this show running for as long as he was allowed to. And the theatre owners were happy to be getting a rent check every week, until they had an opportunity to load another show in that would bring them more money. So, both sides got what they wanted.

After the reviews "Beaches" got with Sho, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought it to Broadway with Alysha. I much prefer her in the role, anyway.

You realize that sentence makes no sense? If it got good reviews with Shoshana, there is no reason to believe Shoshana would not continue with it.
She's saying it DIDN'T get good reviews with her (which it didn't, but the show itself just isn't great - even Carolee Carmello couldn't save Scandalous).

I wasn't under the impression that Alysha got better reviews.

Now by Christmas show I assume it will be either a holiday themed show or a family show that will bring tourists in. I am thinking possibly A Christmas Carol.

Finally caught this tonight... yikes, Can't imagine why they are doing another month.
Most of the crowd, though, seemed so prepped to like it, as soon as he was sort of coming around and finding God, they started clapping and getting into it. And when they finally sang Amazing Grace, hands were flying in the air, and it got a bit revivaly.
It would be nice to finally see A Wonderful Life but it ain't gonna happen.
Just saw it tonight. Despite the naysayers, my wife and I enjoyed it. The music sounded like Wildhorn and the lead Josh Young reminded us of Bob Cuccioli in stature and voice. The ensemble cast was first rate as was the physical production.
It showed the whole nasty business from both sides. It is a shame it will not succeed but it should have a healthy life after Broadway.

No idea. There was a rumor of one but it appears that is all it was.

Every single person bet money on the fact that you and your wife would enjoy it.
It's what you do.
Every.
Fracking.
Time.
I can't decide... which show does Roxy favor more?
- A maligned show that is closing but has a small group of followers (AG, HIV)
- A show that critics dumped on, but they were wrong and audiences know it (Rocky, Last Ship)
It's too close to call for me...
Well, I'm seeing it next week only because a friend is in it. I'll go in with an open mind because I'm never influenced by anyone else's opinion.
