I thought the same thing.... until someone here reminded me she died at only 33.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I think Rachel maybe feels young because the actors who’ve played her before tend to be older (with many being older than 33, even). However, for the vast majority of the show, she’s between 15 and 26. Still, I think the second act does require a certain gravitas and maturity that tends to come with age.

Eva's background and the times she lived in aged her - then there was the charisma, so, yes, she seemed older than her years. Olivier said it's called acting or something to that effect, however, and again, I do not know Rachel's work beyond that one video. Nevertheless, she has something within in her that comes through suggesting she knows who Eva was. Whether that same energy will come through on stage is another story. I only know I felt "it" watching a not-so-great video.
Yeah, not arguing with anything you said! I’m not going to judge her without seeing her in the role, and she certainly has the voice to pull it off. I hope she pulls it off well! There’s also no knowing what take on the show/character they’re going for. The Regent’s Park production with Sam Pauly leaned into a much younger-feeling Eva and I thought that worked really well. I was mostly just saying why I thought people were perceiving Zegler as too young for the part—I don’t necessarily think she is.
Although Shereen will probably be great, and in spite of already having a ticket, I don't think I'll be making the drive up to Boston for this, so, if anyone is interested in one of the $38 front-row seats on Sunday, May 28 at 2p, please let me know.

It's a regional theatre, not Broadway. Though by your narrow-minded metric I guess SHUCKED and FAT HAM and DANCIN and ALADDIN also aren't "Broadway casting."
It doesn't feel like it has a "Broadway cast" because they made the effort to have 90% of the cast be Latino, and as a result it doesn't have as many Broadway "names" as are typically found in a pre-Broadway production. However, I'm sure that the powers that be would love for it to go to Broadway if they can get more producers attached. I have a feeling that Rachel Zegler is currently out there doing her job of getting more famous by doing more movies, and has right of first refusal if the show does move to the main stem so that the show has a "name" attached.

Is it because of the casting? Why did u buy a ticket then?

Correct, but ALW was. Just saying, nowadays, for a big show like this you need something to sell your investors and then to the audiences. This is a big show. I mean, Ricky Martin couldn't even make it a hit. Unless they're going a more like "Oklahoma" approach and doing a more smaller, subdued version? Then maybe so!

I hate going to Boston, particularly driving, but Rachel Zegler would have gotten me to trek up there. I got a cheap ticket in case she ended up doing it. She's not, so I'm no longer planning on making the trip. I can wait to see if it ends up on Broadway.

Sunday in the Park with George
Broadway Flash said: "What is so special about Rachel Zegler anyway? Shes done one big film and that’s it. Her voice is a dime a dozen. Whatever"
From what I understand, she has a large presence on social media, etc. with videos of her singing, which is what made her somewhat of a "name" and is probably what got her the audition for the WSS film in the the first place. So she's a "rising star," but you're right, she's not a "star" yet, and her name alone is not going to sell a $10M Broadway show. This production is going to have to be really good with some glowing reviews to make the leap to Broadway.
