It's not unheard of but very interested to see how a star coming in just for the Broadway run is received in this time of loving on understudies and alternates. Will the narrative turn on her?

I wonder if they’re gonna film all of Rachel’s scenes first in a block so she can still do the ART run.

Rachel is not doing ART or DC. She is only doing Broadway.

Not sure, but whoever it is will probably understudy Zegler by the time this comes to New York.

Ugh, all this video proves is how terribly wrong she is for Evita. The smugness and self-regard is so off-putting. I'll believe she is being cast in this when I see it - very skeptical it comes to pass. Don't get her at all. Both she and Elgort dragged "West Side Story" way down and, in large part. why the movie bombed. Sweet voice but nothing special. Zero acting ability. Will buy a ticket to this because it is in my back yard and I look forward to a new production, but with a fervent wish she is not cast - or at least won't be in the ART run.
I missed Evita at City Center but I am a bit confused why Solea is no longer in the running.

Yeah is it worth holding out any hope for Rachel as Eva? On her snapchat yesterday she was talking about her busy schedule and said she "just started the new movie" but “this is a very quick shoot”

Rumor is Shereen Pimentel will be the first Eva, Rachel joining later on.
Is there any real confirmation that Rachel Zegler is even doing EVITA? All I've seen are articles stating that she will be making her Broadway debut "very soon". Why are people assuming its EVITA?

I also saw that, but it was mentioned on TikTok.

Meaning Shereen will do the two out-of-town runs and then Rachel will come in for Broadway?

I wonder when Sammi Cannold is going to tell us who Eva is going to be.

Apologies if anyone pointed this out earlier in the thread, but it seems that Rachel Zegler has changed her Twitter bio to "Welcome to the gutter theatrical", which is a clear Evita reference.

Wonder if they are gonna announce her next week as well?
Looks like they pushed back the first preview by a day, to May 17.

I can't speak for how she might do in a production she may, or may not, be cast in, but I do believe smugness and self-regard are at the very core of the title role in Evita. She is smug, manipulative, and holds herself in the highest regard, at least in the eyes of Che, our narrator. If that is how you see Zegler, then I think she could make a perfect Eva.

I think in addition to some of the references on her twitter that have been mentioned here, she has also liked and reposted some of the Evita posts from ART's instagram account.
edit: oops it was actually on these threads...

That was my take when I saw the video. I had no idea who she was, but someone posted the link here and I thought brilliant and perfect.

This production is set to open Shakespeare Theatre Company's 23/24 season this fall, so if it does end up transferring to Broadway then it would most likely not be until next spring.
