Ugh, all this video proves is how terriblywrong she is for Evita. The smugness and self-regard is so off-putting. I'll believe she is being cast in this when I see it - very skeptical it comes to pass. Don't get her at all. Both she and Elgort dragged "West Side Story" way down and, in large part. why the movie bombed. Sweet voice but nothing special. Zero acting ability. Will buy a ticket to this because it is in my back yard and I look forward to a new production, but with a fervent wish she is not cast - or at least won't be in the ART run."
I can't speak for how she might do in a production she may, or may not, be cast in, but I do believe smugness and self-regard are at the very core of the title role in Evita. She is smug, manipulative, and holds herself in the highest regard, at least in the eyes of Che, our narrator. If that is how you see Zegler, then I think she could make a perfect Eva."
That was my take when I saw the video. I had no idea who she was, but someone posted the link here and I thought brilliant and perfect.
