I vote yes on the first 2.
But what happens when the recession is fixed (in 50 years from now, probably) and Prop 8 is defeated? Then they'll have to rewrite it again!
"This show" is depressing...
Your Mother-in-Law is... not that funny, I don't think, and doesn't fit in with the timing, really...
"This show" is totally my sense of humor, but the Mother In Law is probably the best idea. It could be used in all sort of productions- community, regional, etc. and work well.
'Your mother-in-law' sounds funny if you try to say in context of the song..like too many syllables or something.
I think the other 3 could work well. I especially like 'this show.'

I like Prop 8. At least for our times right now??
Maybe in the scripts that become available for communities, they can use "this show". Or maybe it can be an insert your own!
"SEX is only for now.
YOUR HAIR is only for now.
(insert insult) is only for now"
"Prop 8" isn't funny.
it's just relevant
where's the fun in that?
Agreed. The first two are relevant but obvious and unfunny...
I was hoping they would use "George Bush WAS only for now."
boring.
"George Bush" was relevant and obvious too, but at least it was funny. I don't like any of these.
yes but he's leaving office... so it's doesn't make sense anymore.
time to move on

I completely agree, insertclevernamehere... I think it would elicit a bigger cheer than any of those four.

Definitely--I'm all for George Bush WAS only for now!

Hey, mine's in the final four!
I won't say which one in case it loses.
Jeremy Piven WAS only for now...
Hahaha, bjh!
I like 'Prop 8' is only for now. And... that's the first time I've ever written a sentence that begins with the phrase, 'I like Prop 8.'
I like "Recession" because it's relevant to everyone. Everyone is affected by it while not everyone has a mother-in-law. I also think that something like "these ticket prices" would have been funny but I thought of it toooo late.
I suggested "Prop 8" but I am sure a lot of other people did too...especially here in California. I wonder if they just go with the first person who suggested it or everyone gets something?? hmmmm My other was "American Idol"

Prop 8 is the only one I like. It's two syllables, relevant and just the kind of thing we should hope is only for now. Let's just hope it doesn't take 8 years to get rid of it.

I like the "this show" is only for now line. as well as the mother in law one. I agree with what has been said about the other two. That yes they are current and political but they're not that funny. The humor of the Bush line was that while he was a political person, he was one who was hated by almost everyone.
I also think that if they used the prop 8 one. They might have to change it on tour depending on where the tour plays as to not offend the local audience.

I like 'recession' because it's relevant to everyone.
This show is hilarious but I don't think people who don't follow grosses will get it...

Prop 8 and This Show are my favorites... This Show probably edging it out.... i think it just flows well and can be used for a very long time... if community theater or high schools do it, then it makes perfect sense since the shows only run a few performances... so yeah... i like This Show
All I saw was their logo and "AVENUE Q Annouces .... 4" and I was like... ****.
Yay! Not a closing notice :)
And I'm for Prop 8. Even if it does "alienate" part of the audience, it will make people educate themselves in case they don't know what it is and they hear the audience around them going nuts.

See, I never thought of the whole "this show is for now line." to have anything to do with the recession. I guess that is another way that you can look at it. However, the way that I saw it was that it meant that no show lasts forever. Not that the numbers for the show are bad. But, I guess it could work because it can work on two levels.
