Corine never supplies her readers with supporting facts...or even interesting stories.
I spoke to one of the writers. London is closing. So the rumors need to stop.
Go and see it, it is a great show. My favorite Broadway show.
Between the losses of HAIRSPRAY. FORBIDDEN BROADWAY AND SPRING AWAKENING IT BETTER NOT CLOSE.
Avenue Q has run its course...it *should* close.

regardless, it's actually GOOD material.
unlike "Tale" or "13" or any of that other garbage.
that crap should close... not this cute little musical.
EXCUSE ME WITHOUT A TRACE:
Why should it close? Why should the best musical on Broadway close. Why should the actors be out of work.
If you say anything bad about AVENUE Q it will suck to be you.
I LOVE IT and I spoke to a good source that there are no plans of closing it.
GO AND SEE IT. With everything else closing sales should be great!
lolololololololololol you sound a little demented
Demented?
I love theater and the list of closing shows: (Shows that I love)
Forbidden Broadway
Hairspray
Legally Blonde
Title of Show
Xanadu
Spring Awakening
A Catered Affair (Loved the show and the cast)
A Tale of Two Cities (Love the cast)
Jay Johnson The Two And Only
I am sorry. I don't want to see another great show and Tony Award winner close. I love NY AND I LOVE AVENUE Q.
And I don't want to see more talented people out of work.
Demented? No. It is sad.

Has anyone noticed how the show is only listed in the NY Times on Sundays?
Corine: everyone on this board knows that you are an obsessive Avenue Q fan. You are obviously too close to the show and have too much of a connection with it to realize when it has run its course. It has had a very long run, has already recouped, will go down in the history books as a huge hit, and if it closes, it is not the end of the world.
Shows that I love have closed after considerably fewer performances than Avenue Q, but they deserved to close as well due to many reasons - poor sales, negative reviews, etc. I can separate my love for shows with their impending fate to close...you should be able to as well.
Wasn't "Jay Johnson" a limited run and awhile ago? You forgot about "Rent," and if you're going to include "Jay Johnson" include other shows that have closed awhile ago.
Beauty and the Beast
The Producers
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
The Color Purple
The Wedding Singer
The Drowsy Chaperone
Tarzan
A Chorus Line
Grey Gardens
Les Misérables
The Coast of Utopia
Company
Curtains
Legally Blonde
Passing Strange
A Catered Affair
Spamalot
Yes, we recognise that many shows are closing. "Avenue Q" Broadway is not closing, but to put "Jay Johnson" in the list of recent shows that have closed is absurd/ridiculous.
"I spoke to one of the writers. London is closing. So the rumors need to stop."
OMG, London is closing...where are they going to put all those people that live there? They can not CLOSE LONDON.... they can close Avenue Q, the production that is playing in London...but never can the just close LONDON!!!
I made a list of shows that closed that I personally love.
A video that has some of Q in it.

PS I have not seen Q in almost a year. I have seen it six times.
I would not call that obsessive. I love it. Things close but I don't want it to close.

"Avenue Q has run its course...it *should* close."
Why should something close if it is pulling in enough money to run? So once a show recoups, that's it, we should close it? Why don't we close Lion King?
I understand that people want to keep Broadway "fresh" with new shows, but I don't see that as a reason for Avenue Q to close (unless it has already been announced, excuse me). It is still pulling in a decent gross for the show's size. Besides, many shows are going to be opening within the next year. Also, Avenue Q isn't like Phantom of the Opera or Rent, where the name is/was beginning to wear itself out.
And who really cares if she is an "obsessive" Avenue Q fan? She obviously loves the show, and many others, let her be. At least she is not one of those annoying sock puppets.
Man, it's a great show. And it still feels like one.
Now, when it becomes "RENT"-stale, THEN it should probably close. But not until.
It already has.
I liked it quite a lot when it opened but last time I saw it, it aged. Rapidly. And felt very stale...and the cast was very mediocre.
I don't want it to close till we hear the new lyric. "George Bush...."
I saw it when I went to NY this summer and loved it. Didn't find it stale at all. Not necessarily my favorite show, but with such low costs and a still relevant, humorous score, I hope it stays around.
I can agree that some of the cast is stale (I have never been a fan of Howie Michael Smith as Princeton/Rod) but the show, by no means, is ruined by the actors.
