Bobby, that was harsh. Considering you think YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is the best thing since sliced bread, for you to insult a fresh, young composer who created an original musical (a rarity on Broadway these days) is pretty ridiculous.

Oh please! I enjoy Young Frankenstein because I'm a fan of Brooks and the film; it has nothing to do with my thoughts (and I'm not the first to say this) that In the Heights is badly constructed.
This happens with every musical that tackles race. Shame on you if you hate it.

There could be a million reasons. My guess is that maybe a fuse or something blew and they had to repair it or something.
And yes, they do offer refunds to cancelled shows because my sister bought tickets for our parents to "The Drowsy Chaperone" for January. However, the show closed, so my sister ended up buying them tickets to "A Chorus Line" instead.

EXCUSE ME!? I *despised* THE WEDDING SINGER! You are obviously thinking of someone else. And this was not a personal attack on you, so I don't see why you felt the need to make a personal attack on me, with false information about my history no less.

Bobby.. while I agree that the show itself is poorly constructed, I actually think the score/music was THE redeeming factor. for me at least. I love that hip hop/reggae/rap infusion stuff. it's very cool.

ITH's score is OK. I liked it but didn't fall in love with it. The only memorable bits were the mother's solo and "If I Won The Lottery."
The biggest issue, for me, was the book.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

It was more visually memorable than the dialogue/score. I remember characters, visuals, plots, and moments.
But you know, there is that argument that a score doesn't have to be memorable. Just the show. And it certainly was memorable, so I guess from that perspective it was a success for me. Not as grand as GYPSY or PASSING STRANGE or NEXT TO NORMAL, but it had its own little impact.

I think that the score (from what I have heard of it) is different, so not everyone is going to love it. I think saying it's bad is kinda over dramatic.... but I guess that's a matter of taste. I personally love what I have heard, but I like things are a little different. I hope they repair the sound soon. It must have been pretty bad if they canceled the performance so soon after opening.

did you just put "GYPSY' in the same sentence as that piece of crap "NEXT TO NORMAL" ??
yikes.
I did not like the show but I did love the music and dancing. My problem is that there isn't a book...
a character enters and someone starts singing "it's 5 pm" or something. Do you know? Like a bad rock opera. They sang when they didn't need to. You know you can tell a story without singing it.
I passed by at 3 and saw Karen Olivo and Krista Rodriguez gabbing with Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele outside the stage door, and what looked like a crowd in the lobby. Passed by again an hour later and it looked like the show was still going on.
