How are the new Aladdin, Joshua Dela Cruz, and the new Genie, Major Attaway?
FYI...this isn't a show that ever seemed to garner a huge following here...lots saw it, but I'm not sure how much repeat visitors are here.
My second viewing of the show was a year ago almost to the date in March 2016 and they both happened to be on. It was Major's debut show and although I was initially upset about Iglehart being out, Major absolutely blew it out of the water. He was SO wonderful and later in the day when I found out it was his first show I was shocked and also honored to see it! He hit all of the main marks that Iglehart inventively created, but also made the part his own. Dela Cruz was also great- technically sound and gave a strong performance, but seemed a little nervous which lent to lacking star quality. I am sure he has grown so much since and is great. Would love to go back and check it out this year.

Any ideas who the new Aladdin will be now that Telly is leaving?

I googled Joshua Dela Cruz because I had never heard of him. He is the new Blue's Clues Guy! https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/blues-clues-sets-new-host-title-1142732

Shouldn't Telly's replacement be getting announced soon? I'd like to see this show again and I'm trying to decide if I should see it with Telly or wait to hear who is replacing him. I know tickets will be a bit cheaper after this week so I'd like to take advantage of the lower prices if I can.
I would highly recommend you see the replacement. Its possible Telly was sick, but he gave one of the worst vocal performances I have ever seen in my life, and his acting was almost as bad. I have respect for him as a performer and dancer, loved him in RENT. I was honestly shocked at how bad it was. I will be returning to try the show again when theres a new Aladdin. Any word on how long Arielle Jacobs will be there?

Thanks for the feedback. I caught the tail end of Arielle's Instagram Live last Friday and someone asked her how long she'd be there and she made it sound like she had no plans to leave. I know actors lie about this type of thing too but I got the impression she is happy. Of course I have to wonder if producers may feel differently if her brother is available again. It may be easier to cast Jasmine than Aladdin.
I think Adam is now based out of Chicago. I dont think he has any plans of returning to Aladdin or broadway anytime soon. As for when they will anounce Tellys replacement. I would be shocked if they didnt announce announce the Sunday before they start.
I've seen Telly Leung in several shows and have noticed that his voice is getting thinner and reedier as he gets older. Also, in my opinion, he's not much of an actor so the performance suicidalmickeymouse saw doesn't surprise me.

I'm excited for this

I have I say, Michael James Scott is FANTASTIC. Really electric as the genie. Didn't love this show as a whole but I really recommend seeing this show with him as the Genie, I can't imagine anyone else!

So proud of Ainsley! He is wonderful as Aladdin. Plus its incredible that both he and his partner Callum are making their Broadway debuts in leading roles at the same time!
Michael James Scott is a fantastic Genie too.

Seeing Attaway when the tour comes to Costa Mesa just might be fun.
Is this show easy to rush for? Might be a stop now for my trip in May

Do any of the Disney shows have rush? I thought they just did online lottery. Also when I rushed American Son last week, I didnt see a line outside the Minskoff for Lion King.

It's been announced on the show's social media that Ainsley's last day is tomorrow. Kind of odd that the show hasn't announced his replacement yet?

i caught Major in Salt Lake City He was great It was certainly a treat since I just saw him on Broadway in January
DTP actually announced earlier this week that Ainsley Melham’s replacement, starting July 16, will be current Aladdin understudy Jacob Dickey.

Thanks I missed that announcement. Interesting that it’s only until mid-September. I think that’s also when Major Attaway and Michael James Scott are scheduled to swap places again.

Courtney Reed is back as Jasmine Oct 16-27. I noticed that some of these shows have $99.50 orchestra seats if anyone is interested.
