I saw it last week and found it both gripping and moving. A real statement about today's socioeconomic crisis.

How this got snubbed for a Tony is beyond me...!

So will Alice Ripley eat a slice in pizza in public just like other New York City people?

...and will someone report back if they spot her chowing down at Papaya King?

There is no monetary award with a Tony Award. (Although many have raises attached to nominations.) Leading actors unless they are movie/tv STARS don't make the kind of money that would make them RICH.

While I agree that most leads on Broadway are not RICH, getting a nom/win will raise your pay a healthy amount. I believe I read somewhere that a nom is a raise of $500/week and a win is a raise of $1000/week.

Alice has taken many things. The subway is one of them.

I'm not saying Alice Ripley is rich-rich, but if she didn't get more than $5K a week for Next to Normal, particularly after the Tony win, she needs a better agent.

>> "Poster people, YOU ARE BRILLIANT!"

My ego hopes that by "Poster people", you mean me...

Yes, John Adams, I mean YOU! I meant to say people who made the posters, but Poster People was shorter. Alice Ripley takes the subway

Oh...THANK HEAVENS!

Last year around this time I bumped into Alice on 42nd St as she was coming out of the subway station. I was freaking out a little because I am a huge fan and she was super sweet and down to earth. She invited my husband and I to her concert at the Metropolitan Room. I went to the concert and after the show I went to say hi to her and she remembered my name and was glad to see that I made it to the show! She is amazing!

This thread, just like Alice Ripley herself makes me happy :)

I have taken the subway with Jim Belushi. I agree with the sentiment that most New Yorkers tale the subway. It's a lot faster.

Actually I was feeling a little unloved today---I think I gave too much away yesterday--it was Mothers Day.

Oi. Celebrities are comfortable taking the subway here because most people DON'T act like this.

What is so wrong about what I did Kelly? I can read peoples body language and if someone is in a rush or doesn't want to be bothered then I wouldn't go up to them.
