Good luck---but. This is all too straight for me--engagement,showers,bucks nights,weddings then the divorce.

All you need is a good lawyer for property distribution. This need for public displays for recognition or publicity is a world gone crazy.

Yes I'm old and did vote for same sex marriage purely for equal opportunity.

An engagement announcement is a world gone crazy?

That's a rather eccentric opinion.

I agree with the above. The younger gay couples who marry all end up in divorce. Not being bitter here but every single young gay couple i know who married (and some with adopted kids) ended up miserably divorcing. Even celebrity gay marriages from Rosie O'Donnell, Cheyenne Jackson to Melissa Etheridge. Things change once that legal document is signed. Seems only the older gay couples who've been together decades endure the romance of it all.

::"Not being bitter here..."

But, you ARE, Blanche, you ARE being bitter.

Here's wishing Andrew and Scott a lifetime of happiness.

I'll second that PalJoey:

Let's wish them both a beautiful wedding... and an exceptional wedding night.

Every relationship requires work, young or not. While I agree that people in their early twenties should probably take more time on the path to self-discovery before committing themselves to another person for rest of their life, everyone's journey is different. I know people who decided to get married at 20 and they've been happily together (13/18 years and counting); I know people who got married once they were well into their mid-30s and after having dated a few years, which ended in amicable divorces. There's genuinely no generalization possible here, gay or not. Let's wish them best and hope that they know what's good for them. How about that?

Once again, everybody say LOVE!

I want to say congrats to the both of the and here's to many years of love and happiness for the two of them.

Quite frankly, I have issues with looking at statistics regarding marriage. For example, I have spent many years working with kids with autism. There is a statistic that states that there's a high divorce rate among couples who have children with autism. That very well can occur and is something that does happen. But, I can tell you that for every family I have met who have a child with autism, with it being so much for them to take that it ends in divorce. But, for every couple that that happens to, I can introduce you to two couples who have stuck together through thick and thin and don't get divorced.

I tend to not be a fan of generalizations. That's why I have trouble believing that all young gay marriages end in divorce.

And I know several longtime couples who got married after decades together and were divorced inside of two years. Moral of the story: anecdotal evidence is anecdotal.

Congratulations and love to Andrew and Scott.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body
