I really, really liked it! For a movie thats changing up a lot of things about the main stage show, this seems to still have a lot of heart! Cameron Diaz is probably trying to stray away from turning this into a "Bad Teacher 2" character, so that could explain her acting.
Jordan Catalano, you're easily amused. That was a terrible, overused line and badly delivered. The whole trailer was cringeworthy.
P.S. Congrats on your Oscar!

I think we can agree this would be a straight to DVD moment where you see it at Target and go.."wow! When did they make this?". Also, Easy Street can easily still be in the movie! Bobby C. Is a the campaign manager, but maybe his dream is to make money when Ben Stacks wins more political offices or the adoption thing goes well!

I actually liked the trailer. It left me pretty intrigued to see the final result.

I was seriously expecting to hate it based just on the trailer. This was actually a pleasant surprise.
It doesn't look completely dreadful but me thinks Quvenzhané is not a very good singer. I can't wait for the sequel, Annie Stacks.

I thought the trailer was pretty spunky and fun. Someone mentioned the songs used, I think there is a recording of Cameron singing that Girls song so there may be more. I hate the auto-tune but it's neat to see a modern twist here.

Aw, it looks adorable! I liked the trailer and it gave me a happy feeling. I'm not feeling Cameron Diaz, but this is only a teaser.
Is it just me or does Cameron Diaz’s New York accent come and go between scenes?
Jesus! You people have terrible taste or just blindly support anything Broadway-related. It was a dreadful trailer! One hot mess! I can see Razzies in its future.
I think it will be a big hit.It was made for a young audience and they will eat it up.Modern settings/costumes/language and re-imagined songs that are universally loved-can't miss. And Cameron as Hannigan?-the youngsters are going to think her 'just sick' and laugh and want to be 'in there' with the orphans-a Christmas bonanza.

The full trailer has piqued my interest. I was originally very apprehensive about this, now I am merely cautiously apprehensive. It looks good enough to see, and I will reserve judgement until I see it in its entirety.
God that looks dreadful. And, no Jordan, I'm not saying that to look "cool" as you said. The thin, reedy singing, the generic this-could-be-any-tv-movie look, the community theatre Miss Hannigan. And, I know I'll get **** for this, but I don't think Quvenzhane Wallis can act. She's adorable, sure, and she made a pretty memorable debut in Beasts of the Southern Wild, but she's essentially a cute non-actor. That was enough with the novelty of Beasts, but I don't think this kid has the chops to anchor another film. Especially one that requires the amount of personality that Annie does. And, yes, I know that's rather mean. Tough titties.
But, obviously this movie isn't made for anyone over 10 and I'm sure it will be a big hit with families over the holidays and that's probably all that matters here.
Hate to say, but it looks awful.
I also feel stupid for not realizing before that it'll be a contemporary version.
The trailer was well done. I've seen those recent clips from the movie that I thought were dreadful, but the edited trailer will actually help sell this ... not to a Broadway crowd or even a movie musical crowd ... but to pretty much everyone else, which is a substantial audience.
So congrats to the editor! Whether they've made a silk purse out of a sow's ear remains to be seen. But they did create an appealing trailer.
It looks brilliant! The cast looks good. How much of the score are they keeping?
Now Spielberg remaking West Side Story is another matter completely.

Are you serious? Jesus Christ could come down and star in a film version of FOLLIES and the people on this board would bitch and moan about it.

I disagree about Quvenzhane's acting, at least in "Beasts of the Southern Wild". I have rarely seen such a muscular performance by a child actor. Really amazing. And such a quiet innocence. She was beautiful in every way. "Annie" is a different type of role, but even in this trailer her innate charisma comes through.
Diaz (in the trailer at least) is HORRIBLE though. Horrible. So bad.
"Exactly girlfriend..exactly". Diaz's performance will become a classic drag impersonation for years to come. I actually can't wait to see this and I'm sure it will be a guilty pleasure - I love the new setting and the new arrangements remove that cutesy vaudeville "My name's JUNE, what's YOURS?" feel that I've always disliked about this show.
Emma Thompson was definitely attached at one point. Maybe she was brought in as an uncredited script doctor?
I also thought the trailer was cute. I'm not the biggest Annie fan in the world to begin with. The blatant autotune on Tomorrow worries me some, but I'm not out yet.
She wrote the original screenplay, which has since been rewritten by others.
Ugh, people were ready to hate this from the second it was announced. It's not nearly as bad as people are making it sound, nor is it brilliant, how difficult is it for people to not take extreme sides?
Jordan, those were my thoughts exactly. I thought it was a super cute trailer that got much better as it progressed, really the less they showed Diaz. Now, I think Diaz is doing some very stylized acting here and she looks committed; I also was one of the few who thought she was a perfect casting choice when she was announced. However, none of the humor on the clip seems to land; hopefully the performance works in the context of the film. Otherwise, Quevenzhane Wallis and Jamie Foxx look very cute together (Foxx doesn't seem to be phoning it in as much here as he was in DREAMGIRLS), and Rose Byrne is always a welcome presence.
