...and its elusive hunt for a theater?...
I dug it down in San Diego - excited to see what happens next

If it’s transferring this season the only theatres with unannounced productions are the Lyceum and the Golden.
Lots of the cast posting various things about missing the show on social media today, including one that especially caught my attention. Drew Gehling was reading a Stillwater “Rolling Stone” like a newspaper while sipping on a cup of coffee. I’m probably reading into it but could this mean news is coming soon?
I know theaters are in short supply (the only one available for the Spring at this point is the Marquis, I think) but I guess we will see.
It needs to be tightened up and recast, but I do look forward to see what they can do in NYC.

When I saw “Waitress” last month, I stagedoored, and took pics with Drew and talked with him for a few mins, and we chatted a bit about his projects. He confirmed to me that “Roman Holiday” is dead and not moving forward, and that his next Show was “Almost Famous”, and that the show WOULD be opening up this Spring and that a theatre was already secured, and that an announcement would be forthcoming after the holidays... this made me think its most likely going to the Lyceum after CC ends...? I’m excited to see AF on Broadway!

That post was made on 11/7, before Hangmen was announced for the Golden.
Sing Street is heavily rumored to be taking the Lyceum this Spring according to this board, but perhaps they are looking elsewhere and the show that actually had the Lyceum secured up is AF? Time will tell.

Right, and I posted that before the Marquis opened up for the spring.

Well, barring anything closing unexpectedly (or if the Inheritance doesn’t extend) the only open house (presuming Sing Street gets the Lyceum) is the Marquis.

I actually got to spend some time with one of the cast members over Thanksgiving and they told me that last they had heard, they were waiting on a theatre. The was as of about 10 days ago. This person seemed cautiously optimistic.

I’m guessing that the longer the delay, the greater the chance that the cast would take on other jobs...

Rather coincidentally, lots of social media posts from the production’s accounts today, talking about the anticipation of having the company back together “soon.”

Something definitely is being announced. This reminds me when my company's marketing manager emails us company updates to post to our LinkedIn and social but to "personalize" a little but don't mess with core message so it doesn't seem forced yet all the posts look always exactly identical haha
I wonder if this site holds any weight. Found it a few weeks ago but never heard of it so wasn't sure it's reputation.

It's been mentioned on this board multiple times, but it does not. It claimed Company was going to go to Studio 51, when at that point it already confirmed to be going to a Shubert house. Looking up NYTix in the search (if it is working) will bring up other examples, but it seems like this site makes up much of it's information to look legitimate. I fell for too at first, but that site is at worst fake, at best a guess that happened to be right.

Bumping, in hopes that someone has heard something positive about a transfer. If it’s the Marquis, I think they would have announced by now, since Tootsie only has a couple of weeks left in their run.

I really hope you’re right and that they are skipping over the Marquis for one of the smaller houses to open up after a limited run, like the Cort (perfect) or the Golden (as nytix suggested, even though it’s apparently false!)
I really hopes this transfers. I loved it.

Can’t be the Cort or the Golden - both have spring occupants.

Yep, notice how I said for one of the smaller houses to open up after a limited run, meaning maybe waiting till Fall to transfer so they aren’t forced to take the theater that is absolutely wrong for them (Marquis.)

If you want a fun, little laugh check out the above website and search for the "Future Shows" sections. All your favourites are there: "Becoming Nancy", "Sideways the musical", "Beaches", etc. They even have oepning and closing dates and theatres...like Beachers at The Beaumont in the fall.

Solea Pfeiffer (Penny Lane) is signed for a new show at the Siignature Theater into late February, so unless she is foregoing any B’way transfer of Famous, I’d say this is a likely signal that we won’t be seeing Almost Famous until the 20-21 season.

Yes, I think 20-21 is an accurate assumption. Better to wait for the right theatre than jumping into an inappropriate space (like the Marquis, if it's even available). It will give the producers more time to raise the money, too.
Rumor has it that Sing Street is already signed up for the Lyceum.
I saw Almost Famous in San Diego and loved it. I do, think, however, that a couple of roles in the show need to be recast with more seasoned Broadway veterans. Solea is the one cast member who is definitive in her role.
