I'd see this just for the new Nellie McKay songs. Would love to see her compose a full musical.
Hope this isn't another "All In." Big names, flimsy material, indie music hook...

Since Aubrey is the only "name" that means anything (except for a Coen Brother), I highly doubt it.
Hopeful for this one. We just purchased tix thinking this will sell well with Aubrey and this cast/creative.
This sounds a lot like Coen's previous Atlantic effort, Almost an Evening, which was similarly three very short plays, loosely linked. I remember that show as being a pleasure, if a bit thin. F. Murray Abraham have a delightful performance as God, which has stuck with me.
My prediction is that it will be perfectly enjoyable.
"Relatively Speaking" came to my mind immediately.

Do we think there is any chance of this extending?

I know it just began previews but has anyone seen this yet? I’m considering getting one of the few available tickets left for next week but the few reviews on show score make it hard to justify the price. Any thoughts are appreciated!!
I saw it over the weekend. It's three short stories and it runs about 90 minutes. I loved the cast, the lighting but the direction was a little aimless. It's light, raunchy, and fun tho, which everyone in the world needs right now. Sold out crowd with great energy when I was there. It's not life changing but you will laugh and have a good time. Dylan and Dion were my favorites. Enjoy!

Given that it is three short stories is it different cast members for each or the same cast members in different roles? I am a big fan of Chris Bauer and Aubrey Plaza so I am wondering how long they will be on stage.

Saw this tonight and I thought it was pretty middle of the road. The first act was lightly entertaining and had some funny moments but it really struggled to hold my attention (it's basically just two monologues); the middle act was definitely the most fun and fleshed out (I think it was probably twice the first and third ones in respect to length), and had some fabulous performances; and the third act was short but quite sweet. The show opens with a musical number from Nellie McKay and she also plays the musical interludes between the acts
For the most part each of the actors is only in one act, though I'd say Aubrey Plaza has the "leading" role in her act, with Chris Bauer as the secondary lead. I thought Aubrey Plaza was very strong here and after the somewhat directionless first act, really came on strong for the second act and sustained it all the way through. In general there's a lot of frank discussion about sex and dating, but nothing that I'd say will probably stick with me in the long term.

Review: Aubrey Plaza Shines in Ethan Coen’s Retrograde ‘Let’s Love!’
It’s unusual for an Atlantic Theater Company production to feel so uninspired, but in this set of one-acts, committed actors are let down by juvenile language.

They have a Friday matinee on the currently scheduled last week. Prices are high, I guess due to the stars. I went with front row to save money. Looking forward to seeing Nellie perform again. She gave me a big hug when I went to see her in 2022. I'm always a bit taken aback when people do that.
Saw this tonight and 90 mins rarely felt so long. Aubrey is great and I did laugh a couple times, mainly with her bits, but for me, this is one of the worst things I’ve seen in quite a while.

im always a few steps behind Jordan Catalano, but often in agreement.
i know we talk about nepo babies but whats the word "if someone not famous had written this, there is no way it would ever get made, let alone with this cast" ? Ethan Coen is brilliant, theres no doubt about that, but a comedy writer he is not. This is a MESS.
You have to feel bad for the actors, intensely talented and stuck. Dylan Gelula has maybe 50 lines of monotone dialogue, zero character development. Noah Robbins (so incredible in Purlie Victorious and elsewhere) is a Woody Allen ish caricature (twice). Chris Bauer and Aubrey Plaza are doing exactly what you'd expect of them, and well, I guess, but theres no laugh there, and no point there. Mary McCann does a brilliant job at a 10 minute rambling monologue that goes nowhere. Nellie MacKay's understudy has a lovely voice and no knack for banter.
Truly mystifying that this got produced with so much talent.
I stayed in bed later this morning then made my way down to the Gagosian on 24th to see the new Koons' sculptures - I loved them. I thought they were gorgeous. I guess I love kitch. So you know where this is going. Hauser & Wirth has a very interesting Louise Bourgeois show. From there I walked over to the Atlantic for today's matinee. I wouldn't have seen this unless they had added a Friday matinee.
In my comment from October I said I bought front row, but when I picked up at the box office my ticket was in the last row. I guess the juggle people around?
So I didn’t think about what I paid - even the cheap ticket was too much. But I laughed my ass off. The guy sitting right in front of me did as well. Not sure that anyone else did. At the end when putting on his jacket to go, the guy in front of me turned & gave me a grin & little nod of the head.
After I walked up to the FIT museum where right now they have both Versace's 94 safety pin dress & the 2000 green JLO dress on display along with some good Mugler pieces.
Had dinner, and walked through the market at Union Square, and shortly on my was to Baker's Wife at CSC.
