I don't really think Bare sounds like Rent at all... I was in Bare two years ago and am doing Rent now (hooray for colleges that like to be "edgy"), so I've heard both scores altogether too many times for my liking and really don't see many similarities. I was very excited to see that Bare is (potentially...) coming to Broadway, though... like many others, I recognize that it's kind of awful, but I have such a soft spot for it. Besides, who can hate such classic, eloquent lyrics as "how about a baseball bat, there's one in my pants?"
The former lilprima2b... I can't figure out how to get my password emailed to me, so here we go.
Bare has SO much potential, but in its current form it'll be slaughtered by critics. If they made Peter less whiny all the time, that would fix a lot. I get that he's a teenager and whatnot, but he has almost no range of emotion and we only see him in relation to Jason. We don't get any sense of who HE is, just that he loves Jason and wants to be out.
I also don't think the score sounds like Rent at all.
