And you think of all of the things you've seen, and you wish that you could live in between ,and you're back again only different than before...
After the Sky.
-Into the Woods (Jack)
Honestly, I really really love Phantom of the Opera and Into the Woods both. Other than that, I'm going to reserve my judgement on shows that I haven't seen (e.g. Avenue Q).
1960: GYPSY 1963: OLIVER! 1969: HAIR 1972: FOLLIES 1975: SHENANDOAH 1984: SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE 1988: INTO THE WOODS 1991: THE SECRET GARDEN 1993: BLOOD BROTHERS 1998: RAGTIME 1999: PARADE 2001: THE FULL MONTY 2002: URINETOWN 2004: CAROLINE, OR CHANGE 2005: THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA

Munk---Merman didn't win for Gypsy. She was beaten out by Mary Martin in Sound of Music (which tied for Best Musical that year with Fiorello... meaning that Gypsy came in THIRD at the very best).
I believe Merman's only competetive Tony was for Call Me Madam.
But remember many of her legendary roles came before the Tonys had been established. Girl Crazy, Red, Hot & Blue, Anything Goes...

2005: Something other than "Spamalot". I believe that all the other shows nominated for the Best Musical award were more deserving of it. "Spamalot" seemed to me to win simply because of its connection to "Monty Python"
DREAMGIRLS 1981!!!!! instead of NINE. Just a GROUNDBREAKING show that didnt get its BEST musical tony award props. still relevant TODAY. and NINE? please. the shuberts were however in a riff with the tony comittee that year. this from Sheryl Lee Ralph herself.
