Carmen Cusack's Broadway debut is long overdue. I'm glad it's finally happening. Talent like her's cannot be wasted.

The Lyceum and Cort theaters are the only ones free for the spring as of right now.
Other possibilities of theaters with hits, but might be slowing down: Shubert, Imperial, Barrymore
Longacre if Allegiance closes

Booth. The size is similar to the globe theater. Also, the Booth will soon be vacant. Besides those two, the Lyceum and Belasco are possibilities but those are several hundred seats larger than the old globe.
I keep having to remind myself that this isn't based on the movie of the same name, and that we won't be seeing John Keats singing love songs.

Can't believe that this will be Cusack's broadway debut. She is such a talented woman.
I saw "Bright Star" at the Old Globe in San Diego and was pleasantly surprised. It's an intimate - read "small scale" - show - a folktale with a decent country//bluegrass score. The set is simple with the band onstage and The story about love, loss and spiritual rebirth is predictable and could use some polishing (which I'm assuming they are doing). But I still enjoyed watching it unfold. The direction, choreorgaphy and performances were more than solid for an out-of-town tryout. The show doesn't have hugely recognizable names to draw audiences except for Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. But I hope it does well.

I wonder if Steve Martin could host next year's Tony Awards...
I'm surprised to see that Paul Nolan is joining the cast, especially since he's in Daddy Long Legs right now.
I'm so surprised Cusack hasn't made her Broadway debut yet. She really does have so much talent. And I too keep having to remind myself that this is not the same as the Keats movie.

I'd go for this!
How has Cussack not been a Broadway Elephaba?

I was surprised as well! Given how long she's been on my radar, I guess I assumed that she would have had her debut by now. Regardless, I loved her work in the tours of South Pacific and Wicked.

It's actually coming to the Kennedy Center BEFORE it goes to Broadway. I can't remember if Gigi also announced their Broadway run before they opened in DC last year as well??
From what I'm reading and hearing, I think this show would be a perfect fit for the Booth. That's my prediction for now.

I'm a little surprised the notice came this soon. I figured the Kennedy Center would really be the litmus test for the show as I heard the same comment about it from nearly everyone I know who saw it--it was a nice enough little show with a good foundation, but work was needed.
Great casting, though. Cusack is a gem and Mulheren, Hoty, Padgett, and Nolan are rock-solid performers.

The Booth is not available, from what I know. So this is likely going into the Lyceum or the Longacre, pending the fate of Allegiance.

Why would that make a difference? Broadway is way more money and a way bigger deal than a show Off Broadway in a theater no one knows about.
I know it's not a Shubert, but I could see this fitting well into the Hayes.

The reason it was a surprise to me is because Daddy Long Legs recently opened and it became an Open-Ended run. With that being said, I'm still excited for him.
