Finally was able to get the online rush ticket yesterday, all thanks to the frigid temps i assume. The choice was between The Disappear or Bug. I'm very pleased I went with Bug. Carrie Coon of course is impeccable, but Namir Smallwood's portrayal of "quiet" psychosis with the 2nd act full unraveling was absolutely incredible. Maybe it helped that I got a rush ticket in the first row and was able to see clearly every face expression, but I was fully engrossed in this play.

Caught the matinee today. I enjoyed it but it left me wanting … more? I’m not really sure.
This play should be right up my alley. Dark, psychotic, sinister plays are my jam but Bug for some reason didn’t fully sink its teeth into me.
The performances are all top notch. But I wanted more.

I loved all the performances but relate to wanting more. I saw it a few weeks ago and I think one of the things that I loved the most is its build. Plus since we did not have our phones, I meticulously watched how the stage crew had to set up the scene for act 2 which is so different. I felt swept away in act 2. All the while remembering the red canisters.
I also have to say that if I ever become a crack addict I want Jennifer Engstrom to be my dealer/ friend. She was just terrifically scary friendly.

I sat in the second row so had a great close look at all the details the stage crew did for act 2. You’re right - it was mesmerizing.
I wish every show used Yondr pouches. It didn’t add any time to entry/exit imo,

I would say that if you go, do not sit in the top row of the mezzanine. I regret not sitting closer so I could see facial expressions. I’m sure I would’ve appreciated the acting more. That being said, spending two hours with two characters intertwined in addiction, codependency and mental illness was not really my cup of tea.

I’ve seen the play listed as being 1 hour and 55 minutes.
Can anyone attest to this?
I am trying to figure out whether I should go late to an event downtown at 4 after the performance of “Bug” this Sunday or just consider it a loss and not even bother.

When I opened my Yondr pouch my phone said 10:01 so I think that time is accurate.

Thank you! Were they pretty efficient with opening the pouches?

Yes. When I saw it, retrieving my phone added maybe 3 seconds to my exit.

I thought Namir's acting was just fine and not as great as Coon.

So glad I caught this one. Carrie and Namir are both excellent, especially in act 2 when things really turn up to 11. Both set changes in the second act were amazing.
Also, a first for me with a mid-show swing-on. Kristen Sieh played RC in act 2 and was terrific.
Everyone in the cast except Sieh stage doored. Carrie was especially lovely, taking a lot of time with everyone.

Would really love to know if Sieh went on tonight. Have loved seeing her onstage throughout the years.

Sieh was on tonight, was quite good in the small role. She also covers Agnes and I bet she kills it.
But few can come close to Carrie Coon's performance here. I thought Act 1 was slow going- especially the first few scenes, with long pauses and forced laughter from the audience. Hard forgive that much dead space, but Act 2 is a wild ride, and Coon's big breakdown is one of the best performances I have seen in a long time.
I like what Letts was doing here- the descent into conspiracy theory madness--but there are a few hardly believable missteps that undermine the piece. Not my favorite of his works but this production makes the most of it. Nice to see it sold out for its almost final performance.

Really sorry that I could not make it back a second time. Coon was just so good in this.
