Does anyone know what's going on with these musicals?

Little Mermaid is after Tarzan, aiming for 2007/08.

Batman is out in limbo. We'll see if there is talk after this new movie comes out.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

What?! 2007/2008 for Little Mermaid? That should already have been on Broadway =) Like Beauty and the Beast and Lion King. Why not Little Mermaid already? LOL, that was my fave Disney movie as a girl.

Kerry Butler will be collecting social security by the time she actually gets to go onstage as Ariel

Yeah, I don't see Kerry doing the actual production...

Geriatric Ariel anyone?

Is Batman Jim Steinman? I hope so. I like his music. Meat Loaf is the king.

Tarzan is a musical now? wtf

Jim Steinman provides music and lyric for Batman. David Ives (*sigh*) the book. Direction is by Tim Burton... It was meant to have opened next year...

Tim Burton directing a musical? Heaven help us? Those old ladies are going to be having heartaches in the aisles. I LOVE TIM.....excuse me, Mr. Burton

Well it may be a good thing Tim Burton is directing. He directed the film. Who knows BATMAN better than him?

I heard the second two BATMAN movies were not as good as the Tim Burton ones. And bsides, the musical is based on the original movie's story, right?

I thought Tim Burton was sick of Batman - that's why he only did the first two movies.

I think Little Mermaid, Tarzan and Batman musicals are all bad ideas. What happened to the only inspired choice for movie-to-musical adaptation, "The Nightmare Before Christmas"? Now that would make an AWESOME musical!

I think Tim Burton could bring something new and exciting to a musical. He is such a unique director and I think he could surprise us all in how good he his.
