So you want for Ben Platt to star in an original flop musical with crappy reviews AND with Anthony Rapp?!
I don't even dislike Ben Platt that much.

It’s funny, before he did that performance of “It Takes Two” with Beanie I thought he’d make a pretty good Baker in Into the Woods. However, he’s too young to play the role right now. Platt’s a great actor, but he’s difficult to nail down in terms of roles. He’s too big to not be the star unless he’s in a show with a legitimate A lister, but he’s also not the usual leading man and I have trouble seeing him in some roles.
I do agree he’d be a great Seymour, but the fact that there was already a popular production that came out recently gets in the way of that happening. And even then, I’m guessing he’d probably want to do something further removed from Evan.

There should be a major revival of The Producers with Martin Short and Ben Platt and Nathan Lane as the mad German---you cast the rest.

I do think you are right re Platt and Leo...seems like brilliant casting to me, in fact. However, if I am going to have a pipe dream re a Producers revival, I want Nathan Lane to reprise his role. Know it is not going to happen, but why settle for second best from the outset. OF course, the issue remains as always: despite how wonderful show The Producers is, what happens when Lane leaves?

Nathan has done his time as the lead so let him relax a little and explore this crazy outrageous character and ad lib all he wants. His name will certainly draw the crowds, even in a lesser role and I would think, as he ages, he wouldn't want such a heavy burden again on his shoulders.
I keep seeing Trevor Ashey in Australia and what he did with the role; he just blew the roof off with laughter, and so would Nathan.
Every role in that show shines and it's what Broadway/The World will need..LAUGHTER.

Just saw the first season of The Politician, and I think he is also very good at playing Michael Urie.

Definitely can see Little Shop,
I wonder if he could pull of Last Five Years, character wise? He could sing it, we know that.

Probably wishful thinking, but I have to admit that I would love to see Lane in one more musical. I have only seen him in three, Producers, A Funny Thing, and Guys and Dolls. He has been terrific in everything I have ever seen him in, but FOR ME musical comedy is what he was born to do.
I don't really see him doing it -- it must be an exhausting role; I just really want to see him in SOMETHING musical.
I think the issue with The Producers is that he is SO associated with Max; I wonder whether for the foreseeable future anyone will be acceptable to Broadway audiences. I think it would've to be a huge star, presumably someone known for comedy (and capable of carrying a tune).
