Rachel Bay Jones will be out at least from November 3rd to November 13th due to the Playbill cruise (source) so who knows if that means she's leaving the show before then or she's just going on vacation. She also recently got cast for a Hulu pilot (source).

I am so glad I got to see BP last month while in town for work, even better that my $400 investment in a 2nd row center ORC seems smart compared to the prices for his last performance.  I can't to see who they bring in next - but so much of this show is built around his mannerisms.

Hi all, I just purchased a pair of tix for Ben's last performance (11/19) for $600 each, they are orchestra L25-27 and were tied together. I can't find anyone to go with me yet so if you're willing to purchase the extra ticket please dm me. I know it's quite a high price and it might be the craziest thing I've done in a while but it's the lowest I can find right now and I doubt that price will drop. Deh and Ben's performance is the only show that I have been so crazy in love with and I don't think I'll find another one in quite a while so...... I just closed my eyes and clicked purchase lol. My wallet is still yelling at me, well worth it though??

I think Rachel will extend another 6 months or so. She was with Pippin the entire run and in her AOL Build interview it was asked when she was leaving and she said that everyone is contacted through November but she alluded to people may be staying (her facial expressions made it pretty obvious she was staying a bit). So unless anything major happens with her and tv etc she should be there a bit longer! 

 

I would love if Jenn Damiano could replace Laura Dreyfuss!!!

I have no way of knowing, but based on his prior conduct, I doubt very much if he will perform on Saturday afternoon, Sept 30, and I'd also doubt he'll perform on Friday night Sept 29.

I remember reading back in the spring some time that he had Yom Kippur off in his contract. I don't know if that has changed, since he's probably missed a lot more than anyone expected at that time. However, it is a little surprising, considering how devout he appears. On the other hand, I can't understand why those dates wouldn't be listed along with 9/3 and 9/6 if he was still planning to take them off.

Since Yom Kippur ends before the Saturday night curtain, I'd feel pretty secure with seeing him the night of Sept 30. It's Friday night and Sat afternoon I'd be concerned with

Very curious who will be replacing Platt. I don't see an issue with sales but simply quality - this is like replacing Ebersole in Grey Gardens. Even harder than Alice Ripley in N2N. Good luck to the replacement!

Yep. I think that it would be a mistake for a replacement to try and "copy" Platt's performance. They need to find a good actor who has the vocal chops for that very grueling role and let that person develop his own take on Evan. The show is strong enough to continue to sell out after Platt leaves.

They're lucky the show is practically sold out until next summer, though it'll be interesting to see how they deal with people asking for refunds.

I highly doubt people will get refunds post-Platt. His name isn't above the marquee so they aren't obligated to give refunds

Have they not already been doing so? I've seen people on this forum say they've received refunds for nights when Ben was out. I don't know about how it will be when he's officially gone,  but people already have been receiving refunds for performances without him.

Receiving a refund WHILE Ben is currently appearing in the show is much different than receiving a refund for performances AFTER Ben has left.

If you want a refund after November 19, you should probably call now, since it's just been announced and you can at least pretend you didn't know he was leaving (although if you're on this site, you should have known it was very likely)... wait much longer, and I can't imagine you'll get one.

Definitely, I was just saying the "above the title" rule doesn't  seem to apply in this case. I, personally, don't think any tickets should be refunded for after he leaves since a quick google search could tell anyone that he was leaving in November since tickets past November were selling.

Some of those people clearly thought they were going to see the OBC, though. You can always tell when Telecharge sends out an e-mail reminder in advance of a Ben vacation, since the available seats just go crazy for the next few hours.

I was able to get a refund today for December premium tickets.  Telecharge advised me I needed to write them an email asking for a refund which they would forward to the producers.  I complied and then they emailed me saying they forwarded my email to the producers. Telecharge then called indicating the producers wanted to know if I was flying in for the show from Illinois.  I explained I had purchased the tickets for my daughter after seeing the show off Broadway.  I also told the telecharge rep that I had tickets for 11/9 for my wife and a friend which he then found on their system and said, "Good that will help."  30 minutes later I received a call saying the refund had been approved.  Strange about the question they asked.  But glad it got resolved.

I attempted to get a refund from telecharge. Had purchased tickets for my mother to a show in early December due to that being the only time she could make it.

Gentleman on the phone was very rude and stated to me a refund can only be issued if Ben was out with a sickness for a current show. Told me that a refund can't be issued in this case, I asked at that point to speak to a supervisor and he tells me there is no one who can speak to me.

I pressed and he eventually got me to someone. This person now says he is sorry for the other guy being rude and to put it in writing now to telecharge for a refund. We will see what happens. Will update later for people interested in refunds
