I've been thinking a lot lately about the lessons and themes from the many shows I've seen, and I happened to remember this little nugget from "Harvey" that's stuck with me for quite some time.
"In this world, you can be oh-so-smart or oh-so-pleasant. For years I was smart, I prefer pleasant."
Are there any lines or lyrics from shows that have stuck with you guys that has served as great life advice?
Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor.
Don't live with your mother, 52 cats and raccoons-Grey Gardens
Don't bang old rich people no matter how desperate you are-Sunset Boulevard
An "ordinary" life with people who love you is the most extraordinary thing in the world.-Pippin
The slotted spoon can catch the potato.
Wishes come true, not free.
If you know what you want, then you go and you find it and you get it.
Let dreamers dream what worlds they please, those Edens can't be found; the sweetest flowers, the fairest trees are grown in solid ground.
To love another person is to see the face of God.
You may know what you need, but to get what you want, better see that you keep what you have!
Hearing George Hearn sing "I am what I am" at the Palace Theater on my 19th birthday changed my life--although I'm not sure it counts as "advice".
'Nice is different than good'
Rock of Ages taught me to never stop believing. And also to hold on to that feeling.
- If People don't like you then paint your face green and tell them you can fly. They won't like you but you will appear better than them.
- If you love someone, then quit your job and get on a boat. Once on the boat, Proceed to the top of the boat and Yell your face off for about 3 minutes. Who cares if you are bothering the other passengers, It's really the only way to travel in style.
- If you are looking for revenge then the best possible answer is to murder people and bake them into cakes and pies.
- If you are in a love triangle with a nice wholesome handsome guy and a disfigured sociopath, then always choose the sociopath because he will let you dress up in pretty costumes and sing all day. That's the American dream right?
- If you are a teenage girl living in 18th century France and have a crush on a boy, then make sure he is the type of boy that won't forget about you 30 seconds after you die for him.
- If you are traveling through a forest looking for the holy grail then make sure you are traveling with Jews, A diva, Homosexuals and a guy who isn't afraid to have his kneecaps split and his body burned And his limbs all hacked and mangled,His head smashed in and his heart cut out And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off And his penis split.
- The only way one can change the world is if you are a singing and dancing chubby teenager who has has a drag queen for a mom.
- If you really want to be with the cool guy in high school then change everything about yourself and start dressing like a dominatrix and eventually he will take you for a ride in his flying car.
Oh. if life were made of moments,
Even now and then a bad one-!
But if life were only moments,
Then you'd never know you had one.
"There's gotta be something better than this,
There's gotta be something better to do.
And when I find me something better to do,
I'm gonna get up, I'm gonna get out
I'm gonna get up, get out and do it!"
Climb every mountain.
You'll never walk alone.

Though its fearful, though it's deep though its dark and though you may lose the path though you may encounter wolves. You can't just act, you have to think. There are always wolves there are always spells there are always beans or a giant dwells there.

The name on everybodies lips is gonna be: My Name.
Give 'em the old razzle dazzle...
The sun will come up tomorrow
I'll dance I'll sing I'll do anything
Just to get my name in lights
Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise
Edit:
And of course, all of the ITW lines already mentioned.

If you want to bump it, bump it with a trumpet. Important stuff!
If you're gonna bump it, bump it with a trumpet.
From Fiddler on the Roof: (These sayings may not be advice, but they do provide words to live by … or not.)
I promise you’ll be happy, and even if you’re not, there’s more to life than that … don’t ask me what.
God has given you to me. (Fiddler on the Roof’s version of “To love another person is to see the face of God.”)
Let’s sit down.
May God keep the Czar (substitute any despot or horrendous politician here) far away from us.
When you’re rich they think you really know.
Once in awhile, can’t you choose someone else?
From My Fair Lady: Don’t settle for a doofus guy. Even a sexist man will change his views – and maybe even grow to love you – if you demand respect and equality, and prove you’re entitled to them.
From Carousel: Your mom was right when she warned you about the guy from the other side of the tracks.
From The Sound of Music: The way to a man’s heart is through his kids.
From Annie: Good things come to those who rescue animals.
From The Pirates of Penzance: Pilot versus pirate – don’t trust spellcheck.
From The Phantom of the Opera: Never sit under a chandelier.
Finally, a serious one, from a juxtaposition of Les Mis and Phantom: In many ways, the two protagonists had more in common than being French. They were both brilliant, talented men whom God had given a raw deal. One, although he had a loving family, was born into extreme poverty, and when he tried to help his family, was imprisoned. The other, born with a facial deformity, had no one who loved him. He, too, was imprisoned in his own way. The first one used his many talents, and ended up saving lives and spreading happiness – a blessing to humanity, as we say in Judaism. The other threw away his gifts, destroyed lives, and wound up cursed. Moral of the story: When life gives you lemons, find some sugar and made lemonade.
After seeing Br'kyn... Avoid shows without intermissions where you can desecrate leave during.
Inspirational words from Footloose:
* Don't use a toaster while standing in the shower.
* Never eat anything bigger than your head.
* Don't buy a chandelier unless you've got a ceiling.
I know I wish I had been advised of at least two of those before learning the hard way.

"Ninety nine percent of the people in this world are fools and the rest of us are in danger of contagion"
HELL0, DOLLY!
Company: Don't be afraid it won't be perfect. The only thing to be afraid of really is that it won't be.
