Thanks to this thread, I went back to listen to If/Then and I agree there's ton of potential there. Would love to see a revival in the future.

Seconded wholeheartedly. It's an Off-Broadway show based on the short novel Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster. You don't need to read the story beforehand to understand it, though!

In the last five years, the best scores have been, IMO, DEH, Hamilton and Bridges of Madison County.

The score for Heathers is atrociously bad.
I would say: Fun Home, Hamilton, Waitress, Bridges, Great Comet, and I would throw Something Rotten in there as the "fun" score.

And I know that the show wasn't very successful but I thought Bright Star had an absolutely lovely score. I think of the major flops of the last five years Bright Star was the musical that had a score that deserved to be heard for way longer.

HTDobson, matter of opinion. I an not a fan of a few you listed.
I would add Bright Star.
I also loved and was a bit obsessed with the score to "Nevermore...". I really liked the walk-in music a lot. Finally got a copy of the show amd walk-in music.

I posted my favorites when this thread was first started, but since then, I've discovered "Venice," which I've absolutely fallen in love with. I know it got a lot of negative word of mouth at the Public, but I think the score is just phenomenal. It's my current musical theatre obsession. I've made it my goal to introduce it to all my musical theatre-loving friends, because I don't know anybody who has heard it.
