Bob's leaving this Saturday!? Jeez, I didn't realize it was so soon.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
When does John Glover officially take over? Will it be right away, or will their be an interim Man in Chair?
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
. Martin's exit date from the Marquis Theatre has not been announced, but he'll re-create his role in the West End production in May.
Well, that doesn't really help, now does it?! I've heard both this Sunday and next Sunday. I'd like to go, but I'd like to have some sort of official word before I dole out the cash.
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)
if that date is true and it is April 17th that Glover takes over, then I miss Bob Martin by 4 days :/ oh well, i'm sure Glover will be great (it should be exciting that i may see glover on only his second day!!)
I have a question. I saw the show last year during it's previews but didn't get a chance to go to the stage door to get any autographs. I'm going back up to NY March 30-April 4 and was going to try and get some autographs when I went back but now that Bob is leaving I don't know how to get it. Can I mail my playbill to him? Would he sign it and send it back? I've seen that thread on this site about sending stuff like that but I don't know how to do it.
Supposedly tonight was Bob's last performance. I did the lotto yesterday so I could get to see him one last time. Well, I won, and he and Beth were both out. Jay Douglas was FANTASTIC as Man in Chair though, while Stacia Fernandez was a TOTAL disappointment as The Drowsy Chaperone. Georgia Engel got injured or sick or had some sort of emergency mid-way through the show because when Mrs. Tottendale comes out for TOLEDO SURPRISE, Linda Gabler came out in full Mrs. Tottendale gear and played her for the rest of the show. But even with the absenses, the show was magical as ever. Sutton was STUNNING and Danny Burstein should have a Tony Award on his shelf for that performance. I had tears streaming down my face at the end of the show.
