it was MADNESS today! didn't see any trouble with line cutting, everyone was very aware but we got there a little after 8, lots of people were already there but when they started selling for the matinee we ended up third in line for the evening. I think a lot of people got scared off seeing the line so long when in reality most people got into the matinee, i think the last few people who got tickets for the evening didn't get there until 2ish. the show was even better the second time
Without bread we'd just be hungry
but without theatre we'd be dead
Did anyone wait in line for the matinee? How early did people start lining up?
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
I did SR yesterday with a coworker who was seeing the show for the first time. We got there at ~7:15, and were pretty far back in line but made it into the matinee. The first people apparently showed up at 5. The last people to get into the matinee got in line around 8 (it was a large group of 6 or 7 who all arrived together).
There was one line cutting issue early in the morning, but they were spoken to by a theatre employee and then later purchased cancellation seats and left. After that everything was surprisingly orderly. Updated On: 6/19/11 at 08:46 AM
I'm thinking about going tomorrow with a friend to try and get us 3 tickets. If we got there by 10:15ish, how good do you think our chances will be? Thanks!
I did standing room on Thursday 6/23 and got to the theater at about 2:00. My friend and I were somewhere around 15th in line, and easily got tickets! It had been rainy earlier, so maybe that made a difference. The first people in line had gotten there around 10, I believe, and the last people to get tickets had joined shortly before the lottery. We of course didn't win the lottery- I'd say there were a couple hundred people there. I walked by the theater yesterday during the lottery and the crowd was HUGE. Good luck everyone! It's 100% worth however long you have to wait :)
So I've never done standing room before and I just wanted to make sure I got it all right. I can arrive at the box office at anytime before the tickets go on sale for SRO? Because they start selling them an hour before the performance. For example if I get to the box office at 12 then I'd have to stand in line from 12 until an hour before the performance??? Thanks for any help.
I was at last night's performance (Sat). When I went to physically pick up my ticket (around 5:30-is) out side the theater was a MESS. I'm assuming it was crowded with both Lottery folks as well as SRO. I can't even imagine how many people there were...over 200 hundred if I had to guess.
Just getting TO the doors for the box office was crazy. I practically had to hit someone WITH the door to get out.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I'm trying to plan an NYC trip for September and am currently sorting a show schedule of sorts. I was wondering if it would be wiser of me to plan to try for standing room on a Thursday for the evening performance, or a Saturday or Sunday for the matinees? My thinking was that for a matinee it perhaps might involve slightly less time waiting in line, unless lines are now beginning in the small hours of the morning for the afternoon performances? Any help would be gratefully received!
Thanks, LizzieCurry. Someday I'll figure out the search function here. I entered "Book of Morman SRO" and that thread didn't come up -- only this much older one!
