I found this slightly disturbing video of Laura Bell Bundy doing this very offensive character on her own Youtube channel. How did she get away with this? I can't watch it without cringing. Have you guys found anything else like this before? I'd like to know.

Funny you say that. This was going to be Derrick Berry's character for season 8 Snatch Game. Glad she didn't do it - this character's far too evolved and nuanced for what Derrick was capable of taking on at the time.

Shocantelle isnt blackface. She's a white woman in an urban environment. There are plenty of women like her. If you watch Bundys video of getting into character, she uses a little bronzer for contouring-she doesn't black her face. She may be playing a white woman who appropriated black culture but she's not playing a woman of color.

It's light hearted and fun, she's not insulting anyone.
These videos were great, I used to watch all the time. I remember last year she made a new YouTube channel to do little comedy bits and covers, if you haven't seen her cover of 'stitches' you have to! I thought it was better than the original

Perhaps 2017 isn't the time for Shocantelle. It's not blackface, but it could be problematic.
