Usually I bring $100 (cash) with me each year and limit myself to strictly that amount. That may be too much for some, too little for others but for me it's just right. If the pickings are good, I know my budget and use it wisely. If they aren't all that great, I pick up a few things to support the cause and call it a day It's really dependent on what you're personally willing and comfortable to spend to walk away with some cool merchandise while also supporting a great cause!
"
Ah ok. I was worried because I was talking to some friends who are also going and they said something to the effect of "it's a lot of fun, but unless you have $1000 or more, you won't really be getting much." Happy to know I don't have to spend too much to get some cool stuff.
"
Not at all! I've never spent over $100 and have come home with bags full of plenty of cherished items I still own today from over the years. You just need to keep your eyes open for the prize
"
Ok, thanks for the advice! Can't wait! Also, what are some of the cooler things you can get under $100 or so?
I have friends in California (where I'm originally from) who love the understudy-slip notepads by Broadway Green Alliance. Those are usually $1 or $2. They often get those at Christmas! Wicked and The Lion King often make baked goods that are under $5 each. Phantom always has a massive table, and I've bought cool understudy sliders there.
I buy those notepads every year also, and last year they were asking FIVE DOLLARS for them. Of course I went back the end of the day and got them 2 for a dollar. I couldn't believe they were asking that much for them.
Some tables sell the window cards for a few dollars all day as well. There is no guarantee on which ones will be there, but I have walked away with a few I was looking for over the years. I also buy the cups that they sell at the consession stands at the theaters. Most of the show props and autographed merchandise will cost a fortune, unless you go at the end of the day and just happen to get lucky if people just want to get rid of the stuff.
@Willie I've gotten signed merchandise, small show props/costumer pieces, window cards, limited edition posters (ex. Theater World Award posters), artwork.... amongst other things! All for under $100.

I forgot about that last year! Ugh, $5. I walked by only at the end and got some.

I guess one annoying thing about the Bway Flea is the vast difference in pricing. I've seen playbills or posters for $20 and then you walk down the street and you can get the same item 2 for $5. I guess that's just the nature of the thing though. Just something to be aware of if this year is your first Flea.

I'm surprised no one from the Hamilton OBC will be in attendance; I bet people would have paid a lot of money to get a photo with Leslie Odom Jr, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Lin Manuel Miranda & Daveed Diggs.

Yes, I realize they're all busy. Does that mean I can't be surprised none of them are participating? Yeesh.

I'm surprised that Robert Fairchild will be there. Did I miss some announcement about him going back into AAIP?
Someone will be there from Hamilton. Brandon Victor Dixon. Lexi Lawson. Ariana Debose.
Have they confirmed how long Jenna Ushkowitz will be in Waitress?
It's an interesting mix of people. Will people be excited about the Anastasia representation this early?

How far out did they release the map last year, does anyone remember?
I think usually only a day or 2. I remember not having a ton of notice.
