Posted: 9/14/09 at 6:15pmI love the flea market! I'll be working the PHANTOM table again this year, stop by and say Hi if you like!

Posted: 9/14/09 at 9:30pmEris, if you're so bent on getting a particular DVD, why don't you just order it from Seth's website? Don't all of the proceeds go to BC/EFA anyway?

The ones I've been looking for aren't listed
Besides, his site states that new dvds will be available ie ones not listed on the site. I thought if I could get some sort of list of what the new ones are it could help fellow posters plan for the day financially if there are ones they wanted to get. Perhaps set money aside for dvds specifically.

Posted: 9/14/09 at 9:55pmHmm. Well, if they don't have it this year, e-mail and ask if you can get it somehow? I thought they were all recorded, but I guess there's a possibility the one you're looking for might not have been.

Posted: 9/14/09 at 10:00pmBeen there, done that. I'm looking for ones I was in attendance for and I know they were recorded. Guess I'll find out on the 27th

Does anyone know if this is one of thos things I need to get up at 5am for? I haven't been before and I know it's an all day affair I was just wondering if there is going to be a really long line to wait on or something.
Thanks!
re: Broadway Flea Market#37
Posted: 9/19/09 at 5:25pmI didn't see any major lines last year. I got there just as it started and I'm glad I did. I spent the majority of my day at the photo booth so getting there an hour before the photo booth started gave me time to visit all of the tables and do whatever shopping I wanted.
re: Broadway Flea Market#38
Posted: 9/19/09 at 5:27pmIt starts at 10, and occasionally tables will start selling things a little bit early, but no, there is absolutely no reason to go and line up. I volunteered one year to help set up, and I don't think we even had to arrive for that until 7 or so, so getting there at 5 a.m. would be pointless and stupid. Any earlier than 9ish is probably overkill.

The question was about getting UP at 5 not arriving at 5. Haha. The poster, probably, lives outside the city and it takes time to arrive. For example, I live in NJ and if I wanted to arrive around 10am I would have to leave the house by 8am to catch an 8:30 train.

Yeah, I live in SI so I need to catch a 7 ferry to get there for around 8. lol
On average how much money do you spend there? I just want to have an idea... I'm not a fan of bringing credit cards to events that can somehow get to me spend 1,000 on a backstage tour of Billy Elliot (not to say I wouldn't spend the money if I had it)
re: Broadway Flea Market#43
Posted: 9/19/09 at 5:46pmWhat I did was look at the celeb table and photo booth list and figure out how much money I needed for them and then a little extra. I, also, had my card for any big budget items. I said this earlier in this thread or another - I can't remember. But I REALLY recommend using a card on anything that costs more than, say, $20. That way you have proof that you can submit with your taxes. You get no receipt with cash.

Thanks for the tip.
Do they hold the flea market in the same place every year? The pictures show it next to Juniors, which is right down the street from Billy Elliot.
I looked up the address and it says something like an alley?
re: Broadway Flea Market#45
Posted: 9/19/09 at 5:51pmSame place every year. 44th street is closed down for the tables and such while the photo booth and auction are held in Shubert Alley which is where Junior's is. The Photo booth and celebrity table are located on their porches

Thank so much :) I sort of feel like I live over there now. I have been Billy Elliot a few times in a few weeks and I went to Broadway On Broadway.
Are you working the market?
re: Broadway Flea Market#47
Posted: 9/19/09 at 5:55pmNo, I'm just an attendee
re: Broadway Flea Market#48
Posted: 9/19/09 at 5:55pm^It depends on how much you want to spend and what you want. My sister and I went last year and we only spent about $40 between the two of us. We didn't really want anything that bad to be honest, we were more excited about the photo booth. We spent $20 for a photo-op with two different actors and then another $20 or so on little things. There are some things that are as little as $5, but autographed memorabilia might be about $20-50. There are silent auctions at some of the shows' tables for props or other special things (ex. lunch with Laura Benanti and Boyd Gaines at the Gypsy table) that cost a couple hundred dollars. The big auction (i.e. the backstage tours and walk-on roles) go up to a few thousand dollars. There are tons of things and they range in price. I regret not searching through some of tables more thoroughly, you can really find some awesome stuff.
