Being that it's a week away, I wouldn't hinge on the forecast just yet. Two days ago, the weather said it was going to be like 88 degrees for most of this week. Now it's down to 75.

What do they do if it rains? Will they postpone it or do they set up tents?
I think they usually set a rain date, like for the week after. I don't see anything on the website though.
No - there's no rain date. It'll go on, even in the rain. I've been to one that took place in SLEET. It was pretty miserable and the turn out reflected the weather - but it still went on.

I thought last year there was a rain date for the week after, because I couldn't go then and was really hoping it didn't rain. I could be making that up though.
Back in April, before the official announcement, I contacted BCEFA asking whether they had already determined the date. Their reply: "September 27th, rain or shine".
"I have a shirt that says "Eris" on the back and am considering wearing it. But, last year I had an issue with someone I was hoping to avoid."
If he's there this year, I'll have a private chat with him, with my best Mother Superior look/tone. That should scare the sh*t out of him!
And as for rain, I think in the last 5 years, it rained once for about 5 minutes. I'm bringing my Spamalot umbrella, just in case!
I'm dying to know who the special guests are at the table/photo booth!
^ Don't get your hopes up it's probably Dee Ravioli or something stupid like that.

This is probably a VERY stupid question but what is the difference between the photo booth and celebrity table.
Do you think there will be an Avenue Q table with stuff from the show, or will they be bringing it to the new theatre?
Some general questions:
1) How far is the photo/celeb table from the actual flea market?
2)If I am somewhat claustrophobic, should I avoid the flea market?
3)Is it much more crowded than walking down a busy NYC street?
4) Are people pushy and rude? (More than an average day)
5) Do they put out more items throughout the day?
6)Does most of the crowd come in the morning?
7)Are you allowed to take pictures of everything/everyone- even items on the tables?
Thanks!

Let me try to give you some answers SweetQ:
1. The Celebrity Table/Photo Booth is on Junior's patio, across from the Booth Theater in Shubert Alley. The Flea Market basically starts there and winds down Shubert Alley and down 44th Street.
2.I'm somewhat claustrophobic too. While it does get crowded, I've never had a problem with it.
3.It's less crowed than an hour before the 8PM shows on Broadway, if that helps.
4.Rudeness level is below average.
5.Yes. New items are put out through the day at many tables.
6.It's the busiest after 11AM and before the 3 PM shows start.
7.To my knowledge, the only time you aren't allowed to take pictures is when you are up on the patio in line for the Celebrity Table.
I hope you find this useful.

The celebrity table is where you go through the line in a certain hour to get people to sign things. There are no photos allowed. During that hour they will pull celebrities out of the line to take pictures in the photo booth. It is an extra cost.
I bet Avenue Q will have a table of some sort.
1) It's on the Juniors porch. So, right next to it.
2) It can get pretty crowded. But I am not claustrophobic so I can't help with that one.
3) Yes. Except for the middle of times square at 11 at night. About like that.
4) Not particularly.
5) Yes.
6) Yes.
7) As far as I know.
1) How far is the photo/celeb table from the actual flea market?
The flea market is on 44th and in Shubert Alley. The table and photo booth are normally at Juniors which is at the north end on Shubert Alley on 45th.
2)If I am somewhat claustrophobic, should I avoid the flea market?
It's not THAT crowded, try to avoid Shubert Alley if that is the case. It normally is the most crowded because of the live auction. 44th isn't that bad, and if you do get claustrophobic then there are places behind the tables where you can get some breathing room.
3)Is it much more crowded than walking down a busy NYC street?
Yes.
4) Are people pushy and rude? (More than an average day)
Not that I have noticed but those kind of people are everywhere. But you shouldn't have too much trouble.
5) Do they put out more items throughout the day?
Yes, sometimes. Sometimes the cast of the show who's table it is come and signs some things or brings random items (like [title of show] last year).
6)Does most of the crowd come in the morning?
There will be some people there wanting to be the first to get their hands on something. My favorite time is to go at the end of the day because normally they lower the price and start pretty much giving things away. I like to scout it out all day and then go purchase a lot of it at the end. If there is something that might go fast get it when you see it.
7)Are you allowed to take pictures of everything/everyone- even items on the tables?
Some people are weird about that kind of stuff but you should be aloud.

re: the celebrity table--
On the site, it just says that it is by donations. Do you pay individually for each actor's autograph? Is there one donation for the entire group's autographs? If I want to go to each session, how much money should I expect to spend? There are a few people in each group that I'd love to have their autograph but not sure if its worth paying for the whole group or if I could just pay each individual. Thanks for your help, this thread has been very helpful!
No, you pay per group. So even if you want just one person in the 11 a.m. group, for example, you still pay whatever the flat price is and go through the whole line. It's not per person.
That's why I opted for the photo booth instead. If there was only one person at the table I wanted to meet I wasn't going to pay $25 to walk past a bunch of people I didn't even know.

Re: Rain Date
Years ago it rained heavily on the date of the Flea Market and the celebrity table and photo booth were moved indoors to the second level lobby of the theater where LION KING is now playing. (Why does its name evade me?) Some booths were in the passageway of the theater and lots of booths were in the ground floor lobby.

Thanks so much for this info. That's good that it's per group and not per person, I think $25 is reasonable for the group though I do agree if you only want one or two, it might seem unreasonable. Are the lines difficult to get through? I mean, if the autograph table starts at 11 and you are real far back in the line, can you still get up there in time to get to meet the celebrities?
It's hard to say because they only have the allotted time, but for the slots packed with really popular people, you might want to get there a little bit early.

Thank you for answering my questions, it was very helpful.
If I decide to go, I need to decide if I wanna go first thing when it opens, or when things are winding down and getting cheaper.
On second thought, I think I'll go early. As much as I'd like to do the "cheap" shopping, I'd like to get home before it gets dark (I live 2 hours away) and I want to make sure I get a chance on the "rare/good stuff."
I think I'll be wearing my 'Seesaw' shirt, maybe my Full Monty hat, and carrying my 'Rags' dance bag.
I hope I make some excellent finds like last year, like the 'Rags' bag that I got for fifteen dollars, or the original 'La Cage' satin cast jacket that I snagged for ten bucks at then end of the day.

It's not that crowded?
It's actually REALLY FU*KING CROWDED.

Hopefully since they had the street air on 8th Ave this past weekend we won't have to deal with the double crowds like in years past!
One thing I've learned is I'm bringing one of the bags I've gotten when I purchased a window card along with the cardboard to protect any window card finds I might purchase. Last year I got a window card from James Joyce's The Dead and spent the rest of the day worrying about it getting bent. Not going to do that this year!!
Still 40% of rain.
