These grosses are so sad especially for Pippin, If/Then, Hedwig and Matilda

The Weissler's and David Stone really have work to do. Updated On: 11/3/14 at 03:09 PM

Calm down, people, only the constant sellouts, and even BOM dropped a tad......attendance was bad on Halloween.

Is it the time of year? Lots of red ink.

Mostly the time of year, yes. But still bad. Halloween on a Friday certainly didn't help.

Exactly, shows like "Matilda" will do incredibly for the next number of weeks, don't look for The Shubert to be available for a very long time.

I don't think anyone is worried about Matilda. I'm worried about the new shows trying to make it to 2015.

Poor On the Town.

Pippin & Hedwig already recouped, so they're both safe for right now.

What the hell? On the Town is doing only 37% of potential?

I guess in the end we get the Broadway we deserve.

I wonder how much longer Chicago and Rock of Ages can continue to hang on.

In Hedwig's case, I'd say better than "safe". At $500K gross - so figure around $450K net -- I'd be willing to bet the show still operated profitably last week. Also worth remembering that Hedwig only plays 7 shows and is in a theatre with a balcony.

One has to presume that Pippin, on the other hand, lost money in the six figures last week.

Think what OTT grosses would be if it were not in that barn of a theater.

January will be ugly.

January really is going to be ugly. It seems like a sure thing that If/Then and Pippin will join those already announced. Will Rock of Ages and/or Les Mis join as well?

I also won't be the least surprised if Love Letters doesn't make it through its limited run or if The Last Ship closes up shop in the near immediate future.

I hear that Pippin will have some big stars in January. And I love how Both Pippin and If/Then really don't do advertising in Times Square any they need it.

ethan, what kind of advertising are you referring to? There has been a pretty big If/Then Idina billboard up in Times Square for quite some time now that says "See Broadway's Biggest Star Live"

Looking good for The River ( based on 3 performances)!

What kind of "stars" in Pippin in January? There are lots of names I'd love to see in some of those roles.

Do those Side Show numbers reflect the closed balcony - Taking the total seats and dividing by the six performances, I get a capacity of 1303. Does that sound right?

Has a good deal of Carol Burnett's audience moved on to that big variety show in the sky? I'm surprised that such a beloved star isn't packing them in for Love Letters. Maybe it's too old fashioned and twee for modern audiences?

Any guesses as to On The Town's weekly nut? Really hope I have a chance to see it next year.

Yeah, I'm curious as to what Pippin considers "stars," because I'm pretty sure Josh was supposed to be a "star" too.

Is the Melanie Griffith thing still happening or was that just all in her head?
