Posted: 11/3/14 at 6:59pmMatt, I hope you're being "sarky". Chicago is not going anywhere for a long while. It has weathered many a week of challenging grosses. On the other hand, "Pippin" may be headed to that corner of the sky. I don't think Melanie Griffith as Fastrada will help...much.

"Think what OTT grosses would be if it were not in that barn of a theater.
January will be ugly."
They would have a smaller potential gross, but do you think they would be more likely to sell more tickets if they were in a smaller house?

"Looking good for The River ( based on 3 performances)!"
Was that ever in question?

Bad all around. I think Burnette's presence isn't special enough. She's done two shows in recent decades, she's not here in a comic vehicle that matches her iconic stature as a commediene, though there is humor, and the people who'd want to see her ... have done so.
"If/Then" has failed to rebound. I suspect Thanksgiving and Christmas will be fine with Menzel's fan base, everything else not to much. January looms. I'm not shocked, but still surprised they could't make this more ... "Song and Dance" like, a show that had a star but middling reviews and reception.

I suspect a good part of the problem is that the bulk of Menzel's fan base is, ironically, on the young (and poor) side of the show's proper target age and audience. Much too heady compared to something like Song and Dance, I guess. Plus an upcoming week of Menzel being out with the u/s in, that'll be interesting.

Do those Side Show numbers reflect the closed balcony - Taking the total seats and dividing by the six performances, I get a capacity of 1303. Does that sound right?
Yes, the full capacity with the balcony is a touch over 1700.

"Patina from the start seduced me, I want her."
Well she's engaged but hey, it's always good to set goals.

"Yet Ethan was so confident about those stars in January."
Ethan was confident about Josh Kaufman bringing in sales.

While I was editing this, Haterobics had the same thought I did, that the advanced sales for the next few months and the apparent lack of any effect he's had on increasing them is most likely already known.
The lesson of course should you choose to learn it is to love a show, nothing wrong with that, but to not completely lose all objectivity about it so that no one can take anything you say about the show be it recommendations or predictions, seriously. Of course, you are hardly alone on this board when it comes to "adopting" a certain show and completely losing all objectivity. Just mention that Chicago might close soon and see what happens.

Well, one imagines the people who decided to close the show had more information about his effect on advance sales.

On The own set to bounce back very nicely.
Halloween week sucks for most, but for a show with an older clientele, even worse.
