Cher Show selling out, but needs to increase its average ticket price. Pretty Woman is pretty amazing.

Given the non-advance that The Prom had, I think it is heading in the right direction. If word of mouth builds, this couldbe a sleeper. Itis not the same as HOH, Amazing Grace, Honeymoon in Vegas,Disaster, most of OOTI's run, et al, whose producers kept pouring money down the drain for reasons only they know. Its grosses have been slowly building, and I am guessing that it probably made its nut the past two weeks. Also, the longer it runs, the more likely it is to become a staple in community theaters, colleges, etc."

I'm wondering the same thing about The Prom. The numbers aren't good. BUT. They're improving slowly and steadily. And word of mouth seems largely positive. Even people who don't like it don't seem to hate it. I really think it could go either way. It might build up an enthusiastic fan base who can keep it going for a nice run. Or it might crash after the holidays. It's walking a razor's edge, but I think it has a chance. I'm really rooting for it...even though I still haven't seen it. So...it'll sell at least one more ticket in the coming weeks. :)

Because it's not great. THE BAND'S VISIT isn't big but it's great. It's topical and incredibly special. A special night on Broadway. THE PROM is small, with a niche topic (sorry my fellow gays and lesbians) that tries to expand into bullying as the theme rather than homophobia, yet fails at growing it into a MUST SEE in any way. And I LIKED it.

Will I ever want to see it again? No. Am I humming any of the score? No.

Winter is coming. You know what that means? JANUARY.
