Press Release
Pleasantly surprised at Cinderellas continued rise. I'm going to assume Fran is the bigger draw.
I have no idea who the bigger draw is. What I do know is that CRJ has ten million Twitter followers and she Tweets about the show quite often. So there's that.
"I'm going to assume Fran is the bigger draw."
Of course. I can't tell you how many 12 year old girls I've heard say "I don't know who that Carly person is but I love me some Fran Drescher".

Sarcasm? The night that I went, the audience was audibly more
excited for Fran.
Well who can argue with that as a definitive and final indicator. And I'm sure every 12 year old girl sits glued to episodes of Happily Divorced on TV Land and has probably never even heard of Carly before this show. Besides we all know people see the show Cinderella primarily for the Stepmother character and not for Cinderella herself.
Would it just kill the people who droned on and on for almost 2 months about what a complete failure Carly would be to give her a little credit?
PREACH FishermanBob !!! Agree with you 100% I hate negative people especially on here. (towards anything/anyone)
Both Carly and Fran are selling tickets. One is a comedy queen and the other one is a pop princess. Broadway royalty!
You seem kinda biased there, muscle. And kinda cute.
Most people I know don't job who Carly is but do know Fran. Who knows who is the bigger draw but my guess would also be Fran tbh.
Carly is actually quite good in the show as well as fran!

Thanks Clyde, I don't usually get any kindness from BWW users, so very appreciated.
I actually stole the line from here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfJQHALEnek
I seriously think that both of them are selling tickets. Carly has a big fan base and so does Fran. Fran gets more applause when she enters the room, because she doesn't sing in the beginning like Carly does, and a lot of people don't even recognize Carly because of the wig she's wearing. Fran can't be mistaken with her voice.
This is the best show I've seen in 2014 so far and it's selling out even during the week, so I was expecting higher grosses to be honest.

I'm really glad to see 'Cinderella' do well especially during the difficult winter month of February. Both Drescher and Jepsen are indeed bringing in crowds.
If ucjrdude902 was right and Cinderella does only have a $645,000 weekly nut, the show is back on track to recoup by the end of March, and if not definitely by the time Carly and Fran's contracts are up.
Also in regards to recoupment, how high are Motown and Matilda's running costs that neither show has recouped yet. Motown hasn't grossed less than $1 million yet and Matilda has grossed nearly a million or close to it every week since opening. I honestly wonder if the royalties on Motown/Berry Gordy's paycheck are going to cost the show in the end.

I found Jepsen pleasant but somewhat forgettable in the show. Truth be told, she's really only known for "the song." Her album TANKED.
"As of February 2013, the album has sold 226,000 copies."

^ Who gives a sh!t. Carly's having fun, Fran's having fun. They're both bringing people in to a show that might have closed by now. Everybody seems to be feeling good about it except you. Take you hate for Carly someplace else.
Who are you?? I haven't posted one hateful thing in this thread. Get a grip.

Ultimately it is Fran who is appealing to the people shelling out the bucks for the tickets to take their kids to the show.
Exactly. Thank you. These Jepsen fangirls jumped all over me for insinuating the same thing.
I actually want to go see the show because of Fran, nor so much Carly. I'm sure she's fine in the role, but for me, Fran is the reason I want to see this show again.

I totally agree with your comments...12-14 year old girls know who Carly is and they are begging their parents to buy them tickets to see the pop princess play Cinderella. Even if they know who Fran Drescher is they don't give a damn about her. It's the 40-50 year old theater queens who go to see Fran and haven't who clue who Carly is.

Fran has a much wider base of fans than "40-50 year old (sic) theater (sic) queens." Damn. That's REALLY specific and such a terrible generalization. It also sounds like something a bigot would say.
So...how 'bout those Yankees?
(Never thought I'd be able to deploy that on a Broadway message board and it would have relevance)

anyways...not a bad first week or so for ROCKY.
