Is Six getting ready for New World ?
Happy trails to the heart-pounding revival of OEDIPUS that just concluded at Studio 54.
Seems like the name on everybody's lips is WHITNEY! CHICAGO with an exuberant high.
Simu Liu brought in some decent but not great cash for OH, MARY!.

Matt and Trey are extraordinary business partners, this show will tour forever, it will be performed on a regional level forever, cruise ships, universities, and the list goes on. It will probably close this year on Broadway after a phenomenal run, which they will barely even notice financially.
Reminder that it is still 2-for-1 through February 12th. Grosses may be lower than normal.
Re: Oh, Mary - I don’t think we can really gauge the impact of JCM and Simu just yet. Their run started during a period of discount tickets, which are not usually available.
We do need March to come soon though with all the new shows. Broadway is looking a little lifeless right now.
Wow, those numbers for Chicago are awesome! Hopefully, those high grosses can continue.

Typical for Chicago. A reality TV persona comes in and gets higher sales than the A list Broadway talent that was just there.

I know that JCM wrote Hedwig, but don't know much about him other than that. He signed up for 3 months, than anyone other than Cole. Is it possible that the longer duration of his run is impacting ticket sales (besides cold weather, the 700 or so performances it has already given). I have only seen Oh! Mary once, I'll admit (loved it); but, stupid as this sounds, the picture of him would not incent me to buy a ticket to see him; he looks like he is fighting to stay awake...all the other little pictures of Mary were either fun silly, e.g., Cole, or a little comedic.
Wicked's business picked up dramatically with the first movie; as I remember, it sold out every performance last year, as a much higher average ticket price (including Broadway Week) than several prior years. Given the fact that there were empty seats (not a lot) and the average ticket price was quite low, are we seeing the luster of the second movie wearing off, i.e., is Wicked starting to return to its pre-November 2024 levels?
I am surprised at the drop-off of MHE. I am amazed by the continued health of Hadestown, which I admit to intensely disliking, despite seeing the original cast early in the run. I just never expected this to appeal beyond a 'niche' audience, a la Fun Home or The Band's Visit or Kimberly Akimbo. Despite my not liking it, good for them.
Too bad that people didn't get to Oedipus earlier. I really thought the entire engagement would be closer to a sellout

That's what keeps Chicago running, Stunt Casting!
The city also had more dangerously cold temperatures last week, to the point that people were strongly advised to stay home. I imagine that affected sales.

all though it had a “lower” gross last week “Oh, Mary” still played to almost 100% capacity all week
