Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 3/19/17 — Page 3

I too was perplexed by ON YOUR FEET's recent announcement of ticket sales into 2018.

ON YOUR FEET had an original capitalization of between 15-16 million. Their weekly running cost is in the low 600's. They fell below that this past week at 597K. The prior week was at 639K.

So, in a nutshell:

If in a given week they gross let's say 697K ( that's at 45% of capacity) ; they have to deduct the weekly running costs in addition to the Theater percentage rent and royalties. The loss after those costs would be in the  negative -36k range.

To make any profit ON YOUR FEET has to stay on it's feet and above 750K per week ( roughly 50% capacity) to post a mere 30K profit. It's when they hit the million dollar gross mark where the 100K profit figure comes to light.

Even if they hang on and struggle along it may never reach recoupment.

IN TRANSIT needs to go. Some shows are making that in one or two performances.

 

And DOLLY made $1.4 million in just 5 shows. It seems likely it'll make $2 million/week once it goes to 8 shows a week in June.

That is not the norm....last week was simply a partial week for them, having just started previews.  They will have 7 show weeks through the Tonys, then 8 show weeks when Donna Murphy starts doing Tuesdays.

Honeymoon in Vegas held on until April! It's not April yet. Don't give up hope!

Does anyone know why there are no box office figures on the chart for SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE?

I saw InTransit a few weeks back-- bought my ticket at the door asking for 'the cheapest seat that wasn't partial view'. I paid $39 for a great seat, and halfway expected it to be lousy. I was pleasantly surprised and entertained well for $39. I wish that this would find a larger enough audience to merit staying open, but if it's not happening, then I see why it would close. Unless there is something waiting to move in, however, I say let the cast and crew collect a paycheck!

Thanks!  I wondered if in addition to declining to submit for the Tony Awards, they were also declining to publish box office figures...but I'm sure they are terrific! :)
