Yay for another good week for The Humans!

Yay Bright Star! Slowly but surely! If this keeps up for a few more weeks they will be safe at least over the summer! Tuck also went up, but probably not enough to keep it open... sad. I thought it was a really nice show, and so much talent on that stage!

Surprised by how big a hit Color Purple took with Jen Hudson leaving. Didn't realize she was THAT big of a draw, considering she's not even a lead...

The Eclipsed grosses continue to make me really sad. It's a stunning play, AND it got a lot of Tony love, but...audiences aren't turning out. Is it the subject matter? I just wish it was playing better. I think it deserves much more success than it has seen.

Yea, but look at the grosses of Eclipses and Black Bird. Those have BIG stars, and are not doing nearly as well. Yea, they are plays but they are doing way worse than say The Humans, which doesn't have stars at well. I'm not surprises people went to see it for her, just surprised it's that many because they made over 300k less than last week. That's pretty massive...

Didn't know Hedley was out a fair bit, so it might not all be on Hudson leaving...



I wonder how much longer King And I has? It'll be fine during the summer surely, but will it make it through another fall and winter? It's pretty big, expensive show... but I'm not sure how much it's considerations are different at LC vs a commercial run.

Happy that Bright Star got a nice bump.

It'll be interesting to see The Color Purple's grosses with Headley in the show for a full week. I hope it does well; it's in terrific shape and Headley is fantastic.

Heather Headley was out for 3 shows. She had prior concert dates. There were slow weeks even with Hudson. So I wouldn't say her departure has anything to do with it.



That may be the most ridiculous post I have read on this site in a long time, at least since Philly Pinto disappeared. All other shows were up or down by modest amounts, but Purple is down by close to $400K and you are saying that has nothing to do with Jennifer Hudson's exit!!!! Are you Heather Headley's agent??

It has been a long time since Aida, and I am guessing that she is not going to have much positive impact on the box office, whether or not she was not in attendance for three performances.

Curious, what is rumored to be the next LCT show rumored to go into the Vivian Beaumont?

Yeah, can "Fun Home" make it til Labor Day? I know nothing of their advance, but they are surely only at the break even point right now. I hope they pull ahead. Hard to say what might allow that. They finally have a decent TV ad (with actors included, thankfully), but it's booking out of town audiences that must be the challenge. As will the tour, likely.

"I've heard Prince of Broadway or a production of My Fair Lady, but I am not so sure how reliable those rumors are. Personally, I would like to see Benedict Cumberbatch's Hamlet. I heard that based on the massive size of the production (it played at the Barbican in London), there are no theaters large enough to stage it (at least any that will be available). I think it would fit well at the Vivian Beaumont.
