I think Sara started in March or April. There were some million dollar weeks with Jessie but I think the show generally sits in an $800,000-$900,000 range. Hopefully Betsy can get back up there and keep it in that range. It's a wonderful show and I'd like to see it run for a while. Plus, if Sara is going to come back at some point to boost grosses, I doubt it'll be a few months after her recent run.
Bandstand's numbers still aren't amazing but they're trending upwards. It looks like a decent little boost from the successful Tony's performance but nothing that dramatic.
I'm curious if A Bronx Tale could get its numbers up with different casting. It could certainly coast in this place where it has leveled out. Many shows wish they could do that kind of consistently solid business.
Natasha, Pierre has been consistently over a million the last few weeks so it's hard to identify a Tony's bump. Fingers crossed they can keep it up once Groban departs. I also don't think Ingrid Michaelson will have an identifiable effect on the box office given these numbers.

I can't believe that Andy Karl will have another ''Rocky'' situation, sad for him.
Yay, Bandstand! Not so yay for Groundhog Day.

Considering Brendon Urie was out of Kinky Boots for both Saturday and Sunday performances, that's not a bad drop. Still over a million for the week.

What is Groundhog Day's weekly nut? 750K?
What is amazing to me is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's weekly appearance in the Millionaires Club these past few weeks.

It really is. He, and the show, deserve better. I know it's showbiz, no one deserves anything, but it's still very disappointing.
I just hope this doesn't cause him to stop doing theater in favor of TV, like Raul Esparza. (Obviously, it won't be on SVU.)
In what world are Waitress' numbers good? That's one of the largest drops we've probably ever observed here - a horrific decline. I suppose as long as they're breaking even?
I didn't realise Ebersole has been out - still, it does have some challenging times ahead. Hope it can hold steady!

The Waitress numbers aren't surprising. As someone who saw Sara Bareilles twice, she really took the musical to another level. It wasn't just the singing, it was her earthy sense of humor and likability. If I were Waitress's producers I'd be willing to pay an arm and a leg to entice her back to Waitress.

"Bandstand had its best week yet! Very happy for them and I hope they continue to grow. "
Very happy for the show also, wonder if it is due to Tony performance which most people seemed to like.

Andy got an Olivier for this role, he's fine.

A horrific decline was to be expected as I said. But they are MORE than breaking even so yes, it's good. They recouped already.
When do you all think GHD will close? I have tickets for my birthday in Sept but I wonder if I'll get a refund??
ANDY KARL has updated his social media with photos that signal he may be depressed about not winning the TONY ... it must be hard even though it seems like he grew quite an ego this season... I wonder if he's already auditioning for other shows??

The Color Purple revival's numbers took a tumble when Jennifer Hudson left and I'm sure you could think of other examples in shows with star casting. If they can get back into the $800,000-$900,000 range it won't be as strong as when Sara was leading the show but those were the numbers Jessie was generally getting. It's not like they dropped into the numbers that leads to a show closing. With Sara in particular, people were willing to pay high ticket prices they're not going to pay for Betsy or non-celebrity talent. Sara's run should be looked at as an anomaly, not the new standard for Waitress.
The only other example that comes to mind immediately (but no where near as significant) is when CZJ/Lansbury left Night Music. The Hudson drop wasn't as strong if I recall - but felt.
If they are still making a profit then yes it doesn't matter/it's all good. It's just interesting to see how much of a draw Sara was - she really filled the bank account. Deserved every $ she earned.

If I had a dollar for every time I've repeated this I could buy us all house seats to Hamilton. But one more time:

It might not matter, per say, but it sure is interesting to look at.
If you're so tired of being the educator, stop and let them figure it out themselves. That being said, I don't think anyone here is ignorant to the facts you're pointing out. They're mentioning it purely from a statistical standpoint and a topic of conversation.

Which social media is that, I don't see anything in FB or Twitter??!

Groundhog should have moved to the West End.

It's not quite that simple either. What matters most is cash relative to the weekly nut.

The "yay Bandstand" comments are a bit premature I think. They *might* have been in the black this week, but certainly have a long way to go for a healthy run.

Size of the set is mostly irrelevant to weekly operating costs, and once Sunset closes, Bandstand will have the largest orchestra on Broadway* since the instrument-playing actors are also contracted as AFM802 musicians
*thats off the top of my head, I could be off by one or two chairs
