Pretty low bar for ballsy. If they close before then, they just refund the money? If they just added a new block of tickets, then sure... but that's the same block that has always been available, no?

Not surprised most shows saw drops. The weather was pretty crappy last week which didn't motivate last minute theatregoers. I mean aside from the typical shows that are always sold out, Hello Dolly's final performances, attendance was down across the board aside from a few minor jumps.
Has School of Rock announced a closing date?
I'm not understanding how GTBBT had close to 95% attendance one week and then drops down to the 60s. What did they do last week? Offer everyone a lottery ticket?

SCHOOL OF ROCK announced a closing date of January 20, 2019 some time ago.
For GTBBT, they probably gave out A LOT of comped or heavily discounted tickets, and now they're back to regular pricing and people realized it ain't worth that much.

It's ironic how mostly everyone thought SUMMER was going to make most of it's money during the Summer tourist season....but the show hasn't cracked a million since the end of June, which was two months ago. I wonder if it will rebound in the Fall?

After seeing the show I would have preferred the hamburger.

I really wish people would not post things they don't know. The notice is one week, the pay is one week, unless an individual has a different notice or payment in their contract.
And in all the observation about HOH and GTBBT let's not over look what happened over at Circle's box office this week.

The fundamental reason is it's a bad show. A boring show, A dreary show with ugly music.
Oh, yes, it won raves from the critics and passels of awards. But these things can only carry a show so far until the public catches on and word of mouth catches up to the overpraise and hype.
Fact is, the show's grosses had already declined until the Tony voters got their chance to ride to the rescue, and give the show a second wind, They succeeded to a point, but in the end, reality is inexorable.
Good for reality.

I think the Band's Visit's attendance is hurt by Tony Shalhoub dropping out.

I think so, too. There are definitely people who want to see the show because it won best musical 2018, but Shalhoub was a big draw.

That's not true. When I was posting on social media about going to see the show in July, friends of mine (not the major theatre buffs) asked me if "Monk" was there or how "Monk" was in the show

Dude, that alternate reality BS is lame even for a troll. The show has done very well. All shows are not going to be blockbusters, but no one really cares that you did not like it. The facts speak for themselves, and at the end of the day you are still just an intellectually anemic troll.

Band's Visit's word-of-mouth could be catching up to it. The first few months probably had a lot of traditional New York theatergoers. Tourists and people coming in from out-of-town expecting to be blown away by a Tony-winning Best Musical might be disappointed by this delicate, quiet little show.

I get not liking The Band's Visit (I loved it) but yeah it's not going to be "THE" show of our generation. I don't get why people like DEH but but they do and so be it. But "The Band's Visit" is great and is a hit, and I'm happy for it.

A show being bad, albeit subjective, would not reduce its gross potential over time, which would be objective.
The show not selling as many premium seats and instead selling them for regular price would. Of course, that has already been explained in here, but I guess any opportunity to bloviate is hard for you to pass up.

I suspect the numbers are up because it is closing. It’s not unusual for a show’s box office to increase after it announces a closing date as people prioritize seeing it before it closes. Maybe HOH and GTBBT should each announce several closing dates. Lol

Oh, if your friends asked you then it must be true! Bring him back to double their weekly box office.

I'm not saying he has a huge box office draw. I'm just saying casual, non-theatre goers know who he is

Spongebob may be doing "better" but I was still able to get a TDF ticket for Weds night. (As well as for Anastasia).

Posted: 8/21/18 at 10:52amI can confirm that many of my friends and some coworkers only know/care of The Band’s Visit because of Tony Shalhoub. They are not theater people but really wanted to see him in it.
