I don’t care about the Tony awards but sadly other people do care about them and it influences them to see the best musical winner. Outsiders probably got a plurality and ended up with the award. Most voters very well could have thought Suffs was more worthy than Outsiders. So yes, I do take issue with the Tony awards for a number of reasons.
The Roommate is in a tiny theatre and only has two cast members. While they might have wanted the average ticket price to be a little higher I would hope and assume they are still covering costs and making a profit. Goes without saying but also a partial week in terms of performances.
Any word on a Oh, Mary! extension?
Great numbers and the seating chart for the rest of the shows very few seats under $300. Lucked out and found a couple of $170 seats, but that looks like a bargain now.

One show’s grosses I have my eye on is Moulin Rouge. I have to imagine they were hoping Aaron would give them a more significant bump much like he did when he first returned. Doing $1.2M in a holiday week for a show that costs not much less than that to run even having recouped is not a healthy sign for a show like that. They have stronger Fall trends than Summer historically, but it’s clear Moulin Rouge most likely won’t be around in a year or two.
Not for nothing, I saw the show recently and realized the music comes off as dated and pretty cringe at times (Shut Up and Dance remains one of the worst things I’ve had to endure in a musical and they use the song in their commercial which follows me EVERYWHERE).

It built word of mouth because it is genuinely good, and it has asellable production: a show that looks expensive and interesting and is really inventive in its direction and choreography. Similar to HADESTOWN and ONCE and AN AMERICAN IN PARIS and MATILDA and SPRING AWAKENING (some of those not comparable by IP name value obviously, but the production values becamesales assets)."
I’m not sure I buy your IP argument given that the IP appeals to completely different populations (eg, adults vs teens (plus adult nostalgia for their teens) vs elementary school students. And I think that is the difference. As for it being genuinely good…

I heard back in the spring even they had the theatre for an open run, but not sure what their plan is for Cole and cast to extend or replace or what.
I will say, if Cole is in the show next June, they've a real shot at some Tonys.
The Outsiders has built the same audience Newsies did. Young, white, women, and their mothers.

I mean, when I saw it, there were so many teen girls in the audience who were just screaming over the good-looking muscular guys. No surprise that it is getting hype just like Newsies, but that was on a completely different level.

Who are these "people" you speak about? You use this term quite a bit.

I've been told that their intention/hope is to run until June. But it all depends on how confident producers are that they can keep the "must see" vibe going with each extension. I'd expect them to announce another block through January, but the real question will be if they can get through the winter with the same type of sales and hype. Not an easy feat for a show like this. Fingers crossed though, I'm so happy for Cole.
Without revealing too much; isn’t a major publication working on a story that could potentially damage the reputation of the Tony Awards? Certainly not everyone on the board is oblivious. This would cause some speculation on some award winners this past season.
The reputation of the Tony Awards has BEEN tarnished. But I’m trying to get one of the posters on here to spill the juicy gossip.

Jorge...is this insinuating that some winners got their awards by some unfair method? I have not heard anything about any campaign rules being broken by any production this past season. But I also don't know of the story you speak of.

I'm sorry, no. The Outsiders was published in 1967 and almost 60 years later is still one of the most widely taught books in the American education system. In 2017 the NYTimes even wrote an article about it's enduring popularity. Tuck Everlasting and Bridges of Madison County are popular novels but neither is as embedded in American teen culture as The Outsiders.
