pretty weak week overall.
I think Shannon, Diana and Haylie need to make a trip over to The View for a lil bit of Rosie's fairy dust.
-Adam Shankman.
"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"
"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!"
-E!'s "The Soup"

Unless Wedding Singer brings in Adam Sandler, it's gone soon enough.

How can A Chorus Line not be making that much when it's prices are just so outrageous?
Poor Wedding Singer...and I'm really shocked at Hairspray (and Spelling Bee's grosses for that matter).

TLK made a hefty profit...
It's older, now, so it won't be doing crazy business during the off season...but it's still a blockbuster for its age.

Posted: 9/25/06 at 6:18pmWhat is going on with Rent and Phantom? Is Rent Breaking even, and how much longer can it last with those numbers? When is The Producers going to pick up, terrible numbers lately.

Huh? $760K for a 7 show week in a 1000 seat theatre isn't a lot? That's HUGE -- probably close to a record for that theatre (which usually hosts plays and smallish musicals). It'll probably be close to $900K for a regular 8 show week which will put it in the among the top 5 or 6 grossers on Broadway -- amazing for a show in such a small theater.

Posted: 9/25/06 at 6:26pmMargo, I totally understand why it's making that much. I meant that it should be making that much when it's ticket prices are so expensive. I meant that I expected it's grosses to be so high.

Posted: 9/25/06 at 6:27pmI'm really curious about Rent's break even... if it's less than $200,00 it could really run until 2189 - I guess it costs very little to run, but the cast is not that small - compared to Spelling Bee, for example.

Looks like Max & Leo will be gone soon
Too bad about The Wedding Singer
How long before Spamalot does a Producers - get killer reviews & goes from selling out to dropping grosses. i know it will not be anytime soon but I think it is a fair comparison

Posted: 9/25/06 at 6:43pmResponding to little sally's post, again, Chorus Line is in a small theatre, seating just over 1,000 people (1,069, to be exact). 1,000 capacity x $100.00 average ticket x 7 performances equals 700,000, meaning Chorus Line performed at just about its highest possible gross potential, save for if it starts selling lots of premium tickets, a la Jersey Boys or Wicked.

Posted: 9/25/06 at 7:15pmI'm loving how Jersey Boys played to 52.4% capacity during its first week of previews. Now look at it. Way to go Jersey Boys!
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 9/24/2006#23
Posted: 9/25/06 at 7:28pmI saw Jersey Boys that first week of previews...after seeing it two times after that, it is so weird that the theater was half empty the first time i saw the show - though the audience response was still enthusiastic.
