How does this work?? Can AEA contracts be used in the UK?
It's all very strange to me. Why would a major production that has played London then play a regional theater in Arizona, but skip NYC?
SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE had a similar trajectory to KING’s SPEECH. KS could also be biding its time and waiting to come into NYC next season (perhaps waiting on a star)
Although undoubtedly laced with some 'best guesses', there is a page on nytix.com that cuts the landlord real estate data in a different way, making it easier to see mismatches and giving a different insight into the types of Broadway bookings ahead.

Broadway-Bound KPOP Musical Announces Nationwide Talent Search
It looks like K Pop is planning to come to Broadway. They are having a nationwide search for their Broadway cast. I’m not sure if it would be in time for this season though.
I don't think any theaters are available for the Spring. Might as well wait until next season.
At this point, only the Lyceum / Golden appear to be available.

Is KPOP an actual musical? Or more of a play with music?
It’s a musical. Kind of like Six where it’s a concert (centering around 3 artists) with a story.
I’m just really curious if/how they’d do the rotating through the different acts.

Gotcha! I’d think a turntable set sectioned out?

But Id think the show wouldn't need a terribly long preview period. Could be a nice fit at The Golden or The Lyceum for an April opening and run through the summer."
Just saw a “scratch performance” at the Young Vic due to the collapsed ceiling at the Piccadilly. While it was a real shame to not see the set, this was gloriously acted and the directorial choices I could infer were really nice. I would say that Sharon D. Clarke and Wendel Pierce are irreplaceable if this production has a future life. I’d love to get another chance to see it in New York. If I’m Clarke’s agent, I’m gunning for a fall transfer to follow up Caroline, or Change before heading back to the UK.

With Tootsie announcing its closing, do we think anything will try to take the Marquis? Musical? Concert series?
I remember reading rumors on this board about the Joseph revival from the West End transferring? Love Joseph and would very much like to see that happen, Marquis makes a lot of sense size wise for a theater as well.....

Could K-Pop sneak in and take the Marquis Theatre? Or Almost Famous?

Sing Street is eyeing the Lyceum
Honestly, they should reserve the marquis for special event shows only. No decent musical, or play for that matter, can fill that space. Just give Netflix a residency there so they can film their standup specials in it.

The Marquis is big and acoustically dead, I can’t imagine a comedian ever getting near it.

Did Lewis Black do some shows at the Marquis?
I’d put my vote on Almost Famous.

Ah, yeah. I take it back.
At this point, ALMOST FAMOUS would be better off waiting til next Fall. Unless MEAN GIRLS suddenly closes or they can manage to squeeze it into the Golden (but I don't know which theatre owner they've been working with).

The Billy Crystal Musical would probably work there, but not sure how far along that is!

So with Tootsie closing, that means the Marquis will be open...I wonder what will go in next!
My guess would be Almost Famous is they're really looking to get in this season. If not, Billy Crystal makes the most sense to me. Unless theres something unannounced that we're getting. No play would ever go in here unless it had an A-lister and even then I doubt it.
