It terms of running time, it should take you thirty seconds to run from the Vineyard theater and spare yourself a total waste of two hours.

From what I read online last night, apparently there's been some major changes in the last couple of days, so I'm not sure what version I saw last night compared to others. Last night ran a teeny bit over two hours. Hopefully you'll get a kick out of it too, dramamama!

Just talked to my friends who went to the show on Monday and compared my notes with them from when I saw first preview, and it seems a lot has changed, including a new ending song with the full cast. Excited to go back and see the changes, I felt the show had a lot of potential the first time I saw it!

Hm. I guess I'm somewhere in the middle with this one. I certainly didn't feel like I wasted my time or money. The performances were fun and full of energy. I think the fault is mostly the book. There wasn't a darn thing that surprised me, and that's sad. It was awfully long for such a simple story.

I didn't notice exactly when the show began (between 7:05-7:10), but it definitely ran slightly over two hours, as we got out at 9:15.

It concerns me that the show is getting longer, not shorter!

Also, the show is funny and light hearted. It's the anti- Honeymoon in Vegas. The lead character is a woman of color! It's a fun, campy afternoon at the theater. I guess if you don't like that then don't see Brooklynite.

What the what? How is this the anti-HMIV? Should we go see it just because the lead character is black? And honestly I wouldn't even classify this as campy because it took itself so damn serious.

Apparently if you don't want to see this show then you're racist and hate fun.

Of course Issywood liked it. Boys running around in tights, one young man with defined abs takes his shirt off , and another boy is showing off his bulge. Issy, whose claim to fame is writing a biography of Joey Stefano, gay porn star, certainly is a predictable little creature

People keep defending Honeymoon in Vegas by saying it's just a musical comedy! Who cares about the racial and gender stereotypes? It's light and fun!

This show is light and fun and the lead superhero is an African American woman.

Got a chance to see this show and, although I had a fun time, it feels very amateur (which is especially surprising and disappointing when considering the pedigree of those involved). So amateur that I am honestly surprised that all of the creatives involved agreed to put the show up as it currently is, instead of continuing to work on it.

The music is probably the highlight – extremely catchy and well-written. The book feels clunky and awkward and the amount of jokes that received little to no laughs were far too many.

I really enjoyed Matt Doyle – very endearing with a wonderful voice.

Nick Cordero, however, was phenomenal. If he was on the stage, I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. He was absolutely hilarious.

There is certainly plenty that could be cut. It feels like a lot of time is spent on certain aspects (too much time), but then not enough on others. The conclusion feels a little vague and rushed.

It was also confusing why some of the superheroes seemed to be only defined by their characteristic and others seemed to be more three-dimensional. I actually found Nick Cordero’s character, as caricature-y as he is, to be the most layered character on the stage. Not that, in a fun show like this, characters needs to have tons of depth, but the inconsistency in regard to the characters was enough to distract me from fully enjoying it all.

I think there is room to infuse a little more heart into the story that could really tie the show up a bit more. There are certainly moments where this comes out and the intention does seems to be to create a funny, light, but still heart-warming story – but, for me, the heart-warming part never fully hit. I definitely think this could be upped a bit more.

I can’t see this going much further at this point. Although the audience was filled, the response was very tepid.

I know I'm a little late to the party here, but I saw this today and had a lot of fun! Is it flawed? Definitely. I actually agree with the above poster that many of the jokes were real clunkers. They stuffed the show with cheap, unoriginal jokes, many of which got little to no laughs at all. However, for some reason it didn't really bother me that much. I was just having so much fun watching this cute, fun musical. It has a fun, catchy pop-ish score sung by great singers. I actually thought that the story had plenty of heart. It was fun to see a story about superheroes that wasn't all about action and spectacle.

This show is not a must see, but if you're looking for a small, intimate and fun musical on a windy Sunday afternoon (like I was), this is definitely worth a visit.

Does anyone know if a cast-recording is in the works?

nah...i'll skip this hipster musical as I hear it's just ok nothing great so with that said, see the new BWAY shows starting previews this month.

Honestly, I never know what will be recorded and what won't. Brooklynite, from what I've heard, has been selling pretty well, and it has a catchy, listenable score. Worse, less successful musicals have been recorded, so I don't usually make assumptions like that. That being said, you're probably right.
