I know I post every time something is mentioned, but I’ll take any glimmer of hope.
Producer, Catherine Schreiber just confirmed on Twitter that the production will be back. This now makes at least three different producers from the production confirming this, and various cast members.
Again, I know anything can change in this climate, but I’ll take any positive word in regards to this production’s return.

I can name a handful of people who don't go and vote. Which means there are many more.

Wow, I had no idea of this occurrence. I assumed that the each of the casted votes, were by those who actually saw the productions. How does one become a Tony voter?

It means zero to us because we don't know who you really are nor how accurate your comments are. That would be as true for me sharing info like that as it is for you or anyone. You're a username making assertions providing no tangible evidence to back them up.

Ok, this happens a lot on this board - one person leaks something or shares insider info and then 1/2 of you go bananas and ask for tangible evidence. I cannot name names, OK? I am in the business, I am a performer, and I know A LOT of stuff many of you don't or would ever want to. Why? Because it will ruin your fantasy and people's reputations.
So, just take my word for it. I'm not lying.

I'm not going bananas (I'm not upset or anything--seriously). But I've no reason to take your word, either. Nor, I guess, should you care that I don't. Just sharing my response. If a number of people said "I can't name names, but yes it this is going on" I'd probably believe it. But one person? Nope. *shrug*

Let me be more clear—I wasn’t asking for specific people’s names, I was wondering if there was a more generalized source (e.g., report, article, etc.). Your claim that “many” Tony voters don’t actually go to the shows, and base their votes from NY Times Reviews, is a very strong one. Could you quantify that? By many, are you suggesting 20%, 50%, 80% of Tony votes are by people who don’t actually see the shows?
Also, you could never ruin my fantasy!

Posted: 3/26/20 at 4:12pmThere seems to be a bit of speculation about the cast’s “fall schedules” and “will Patti return?” etc. Keep in mind that everyone in the show is still contractually attached to the show until at least the first week of January 2021.

A new recording is not needed, the revival wasn't that good. The OBC from 1970 will live forever.

I listen to the OBCR all the time, but I disagree that this revival wasn't that good. I'd love for them to do a cast recording when it's safe to do so.

Posted: 3/27/20 at 7:55pmOf course there are Tony voters who act in bad faith and do not actually attend the shows. But there’s approx 900 voters, and it is very doubtful that those voters constitute enough of bloc that greatly affect results.

That sure doesn't include the show being closed.
If cast member found work doing voice over, etc they are not going to wait until January to take it if they are not performing. This scenario would give most performers an immediate out of their contract.

The show is not closed, performances have been suspended. There is a huge difference, and the League has been very clear with its language.

Sorry but if you think this or any of the shows that closed in previews will come back with their casts intact, you're delusional.

Agencies are closing or are closed. Nothing is filming. Post production on movies and tv shows has come to a halt, and pre production on anything entertainment-related is clouded by an enormous question mark.
So I’m curious. What kind of work would a Broadway actor find during this time that would make them eligible to leave their contract and not return to a show they’re attached to?

Trppguy is correct- these contracts still bind both parties. And there’s very little work to be had anyway, and certainly nothing that’s more remunerative- a definite Broadway gig is not exactly something an actor would toss away, especially not now.
if they were offered voiceover work, it would almost certainly need to be done from a home studio setup, and it wouldn’t be a gig that would require an actor to break a contract.

They are not acting in bad faith - they are older & it's challenging. But those votes make up a collective way of thinking...people tend to be dictated to vote based on influence & not necessarily their honest opinion.
It does't make "a whole lot of sense" to you because you don't want to even think this is how the system works.

When or rather IF you become a Tony voter, you'll then see. Until then...don't give it a second thought. Enjoy your fantasy.

Anyone who struggles with, or disagrees with your perspective, is living in fantasy?
I’m going to bow out of this discussion with you Kennedy, because that’s twice now you have told me that I am living in a fantasy because I am struggling to believe your comment. Unfortunately, the discussion is not going anywhere.
I’d encourage you to post a new thread sharing your thinking that “many” Tony voters don’t see the shows, and let the larger membership weigh-in, many of whom unlike me, have first hand experience.

It is absolutely acting in bad faith to continue acting as a voter and giving your tickets away and not attending the shows, regardless of the reason.
