Glad to hear the raves! He's adorable and captivating. I hope this ends-up getting televised.

You never know about that...some people are sensitive and won't sign certain DVDs or books for personal reasons.
A guy came out a few minutes before Hugh and said that he would only sign Playbills and merchandise from the show. He specifically said he wouldn't sign "photos," Clearly he was trying to discourage autograph scalpers. But I didn't see anyone try to get anything else signed. If I had to guess I'd say Hugh would sign a Boy from Oz Playbill/poster, but I have nothing to back that up with.
More students need to start doing the lottery! There were only three of us tonight (obviously we all won). Go now while it's in previews, because I bet it'll get a lot more crowded once the reviews come out.
Hugh is wonderful; he has such a strong stage presence, and I loved the mix of songs he performed. Overall it was a very entertaining night at the theatre.
Where are the student rush seats?
At the Broadhurst theater.

LOL
I really hope that more people don't start doing the student lotto. I would really really love to win this easily in a few weeks.
The student lotto seats are in the boxes (and the view was great from where I was).

Michael Riedel talks about Hugh's show, including a reference to the " famous box seats" --

My sister and I saw the show last night---loved it. Hugh is just impossible to resist, he's got so much charisma!
My ONLY quibble is I would've loved to hear him sing something from Les Miz, just to give us a taste of what's to come.
Other than that, the time FLEW by, he is so much fun to watch and listen to.
About the lottery on the website:
"Students with valid identifications must arrive at the Broadhurst Theatre 3 hours prior to curtain to officially enter lottery. The lottery drawing will commence two hours before curtain. You must be present at lottery drawing to claim pass. Lottery winners will receive a non-transferable pass to be exchanged at The Broadhurst Theatre no sooner than 30 minutes prior to the curtain. Valid, picture ID must be shown again at lottery drawing AND at box office will call."
Does anyone know if this means you must enter three hours before, and wait around an hour to find out? Or just that whole hour is open for lottery entry (i.e. you can get there two hours and 5 minutes before showtime, and enter)? Thanks!

I honestly can't imagine him signing anything like X-Men memorablilia. Patrick Stewart wouldn't. I completely respect their decisions though. A signed poster of Jackman as Wolverine would go for a lot more on eBay than a signed poster of him as Peter Allen.
Such a fun show! Jackman's energy and charm and talent make the time go by so quickly. LOVED the Australian portion of the show. My only regret was that since I saw a preview he wasn't collecting for Gypsy of the Year. I would have loved to have seen his interactions with the audience during that and to have had the chance to donate.
MiracleElixir, you can enter the lotto anytime within that hour (and you don't have to wait around during the hour, you just have to be back at the time of the drawing).
Dawn, I was hoping to hear something from Les Miz, too, especially because he talked about it.

Btw, there is a song he sings only when a very special someone is in the crowd. It is not included in Jesse21's list. It is THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT.

The show tonight was lots of fun. Did the student rush lotto. Only 9 of us there, and 19 seats available. Couldn't believe it!
Tonight he brought a man from the audience to dance with his "girls" while he went into the crowd and finished singing "Fever" while seated next to the man's wife.
He also stopped the show several times to announce the score of the World Series game. Apparently news travels fast, because after intermission he said that the tv broadcast of the game mentioned him announcing the scores.
It was also a dancer's birthday... so he led the whole crowd in singing Happy Birthday to her.
Stage door was nuts again. Managed to slip out right after the encore and get against the barricade. If you weren't right in front of him tonight there was really no chance of getting something signed. He was there for about 5-6 min. Also, he will definitely only sign playbills and posters. I saw him turn down a few photos from other movies. One girl begged him for a kiss on the cheek and he said he was getting sick so she wouldn't want it. Smooth answer no matter what, really, but if it's true you'd have never guessed it. He's the consummate performer and was really gracious with all of his fans.
So...he won't sign BOY FROM OZ?
Didn't sound like it... but you never know. I didn't see anyone with Boy from Oz items.
concerning the stage door.....do they section off an area only for people with ticket stubs from that performance? Or is it a mess with all the people who didn't even go to the show and arrive before it is over?
They weren't checking tickets like they do at the HOW TO SUCCEED stage door... so I don't know how many people there had actually seen the show that night.
The one frustrating thing is that, at first, they have two barricaded areas on either side of his car, but still leave the sidewalk by the theater clear. Then, at the last moment, they put up barricades to block off the whole sidewalk right before he comes out. And people who were just ignoring security and lingering on the sides get to rush right up to the front of these barricades while the people who waited as they were told in the back of the fenced in area are out of luck. So that's kind of an annoying thing...
Be forewarned... if you go, and you're not initially right against the barricade, it's not likely you'll get something signed. So your best bet might be to just linger back and wait for the second barricades to appear.
Also, I heard that the time to go is after a matinee on a two show day. For now, he HAS been coming out... but he's not actually trying to leave the theater in a car. So they put up more barricades around the entire stage door, and apparently be spends a bit more time...

I very much liked Hugh Jackman in The Boy from Oz, a weak show that he made worthwhile. He made less of an impression in the bad play, A Steady Rain, but there wasn't much he could do about that. The sort of one-person showcase he is now presenting requires a special combination of talent and charisma, which I'm afraid he doesn't have. It's too bad, for he's enthusiastic, affable, and industrious. But he just doesn't have "it." Nor does his show.
I very much disagree about his talent and charisma. It was out in full force last night.
