Wow! This is VERY exciting!
This is completely out of nowhere but damn do I love Tony, and am so glad to have him back on Broadway.
This sounds BONKERS but in a way that I'm 100% interested. Lapine, Kitt, and Korie are a fabulous combination.
I agree this is out of nowhere and the premise is pretty bonkers, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say it’s piqued my interest.
New work of art? New music? Fabulous cast? I'm sold!
I'm a little skeptical about the concept, but that's a hell of a cast and creative team. You can have my money, LCT!
I LOVE how out of nowhere this is. Even if the show winds up being a miss or uneven at best, I'm thrilled there's going to be an original piece with an original score this year.

So excited for Harry Hadden-Paton! I got to see him in My Fair Lady, and he was excellent. And I love Carmen from the Bright Star soundtrack.
With all these announcements, you gotta imagine Company will have to announce soon.
Also, if this is nominated for Best Musical, would it be the first Vivian Beaumont musical since Contact?
Damn, I was really excited about this up until I read Kitt’s name. What a shame. So few original scores this season, and one of them will be bland and devoid of any character.

Since THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA.

No, The Light in the Piazza

I'm unsure why, but this news made me want to cry with happiness. I love Carmen, I love Harry, I love Tony. I love new musicals based on new things. I WANT TO SCREAM AND CRY WITH HAPPINESS.

I’m not incredibly familiar with Kitt, could you explain what you mean? Or anyone explain?
This is sooo weirdly new. I don't think literally anyone was even talking about this and it will just have a cold opening on Broadway?

I am very interested to see how this will turn out! So glad we’re getting a original musical! The plot seems very interesting and I have some hope that this creative team will do something good!

I kind of feel the same way. After Superhero, he's lost a bit of shine in my eyes.
Doesn't Kitt also have The Visitor at the Public this spring? Busy guy. Guess he got some extra time when he wisely dumped out of Magic Mike.
This seems to have come out of nowhere. But this cast makes me interested.

COMPLETELY out of nowhere, and I couldn't be happier! It seems like you can't even open a show on Broadway right now with a cold open, and yet here comes LCT. I'm very excited about this, especially with that cast and creative team. Super excited to see where this goes!

Literally everything he has written after Next to Normal has been unbelievably bland (some would argue that even Next to Normal is too, though I like it). Not only is his music bland, it is actually so bland, that I can recognize when a song is written by him without any context, simply because nobody can write music as bland as he can. I’m not exaggerating! When he wrote the added song for Grease Live, I had no idea it was him beforehand, but when I heard the song I thought “wow this is bland, it must be Tom Kitt” and it was! Then the same exact thing happened again with this year’s Tony opening number!
Kitt will have this, Almost Famous, and The Visitor premiering in New York at the same time!
This has been in the works for YEARS, previously with casts including Christine Ebersole, Kevin Kline, Boyd Gaines, Marin Mazzie, Julia Murney, Tam Mutu, Jennifer Simard, David Pittu, and David Turner. Never thought it would actually happen, but I'm totally intrigued.

The opening number for every Tom Kitt show is virtually identical, down to the title. Next to Normal startst with "Just Another Day," Freaky Friday starts with "Just One Day."
