Hi All! I flew to NYC to see my girls this week and we have one spot open for a show. We’re thinking Caroline or Change or Girl from North Country? Haven’t heard a lot about either, would love an opinion. Would be to rush for tomorrow night.

I have not seen Girl...Northcountry, but have heard it is beautiful.Sharon D. Clarke's performance as Caroline should not be missed. It is only here until 1/9. Girl will be around longer from what I hear. It sounds like you have a more sophisticated pallet than Phantom and Lion King, so you will enjoy either, but it's like a special at a restaurant, always go for the special over the menu item. You can come back to have the other.

Hard to say, I think both are unmissable. The score in the Girl is exquisite.

Thank you all!!!! Caroline it is and maybe Girl From North Country next trip! I actually saw Caroline 20 years ago in Los Angeles with Ben Platt playing the little boy. I remember loving it but not much else. So appreciate your insight!

Girl from the North Country has a much better score. Hauntingly beautiful. Try to catch it at some point!

I don't think it's a joke. Imo, Caroline's score is only as good as the person who performs it. Of course, when you have several vocal powerhouses, the score is going to be great. I think Caroline has a superior book, but not the music. I mean, have you seen the Girl and experienced it's last number, Pressing On? It's otherworldly and worth the price of the ticket alone.
I haven't seen Girl but I have seen Caroline and I would always advice anyone to skip Caroline.

Of course they haven't seen it, their only point in the post was to suggest I was joking, which of course I wasn't. It's called an opinion. Caroline doesn't have a strong score. Feel free to have another one but do not insult people who don't feel the same. Thanks so much.
To say that Caroline, or Change probably one of the most incredible scores of the century isn’t “strong” is laughable tho. 🤣🤣🤣
It's been a flop all over the world, tho? It's not a successful score. It's not a good score. And again, you don't seem to understand the concept of a difference of opinion.
I understand what an opinion is.
You’re opinion in the case, is the wrong opinion.
This is a tough choice - I dearly loved both shows. For what it's worth, I think I loved Caroline just a bit more, and I think the score is genius. But that's just one opinion, obviously.
Here are a couple other factors to considers -
1. From the direction of this thread, it may seem like Caroline is the more divisive of the 2 shows. But worth noting that North Country is also quite divisive. Some people don't vibe with its loose plot structure, and its mood-driven approach to musical storytelling (when I first saw it at the Public, I compared it to shows like "Once" and "Band's Visit" in terms of the tone and pacing). Some people find it too boring and messy. Caroline, by contrast, is a bit more traditional as a piece of musical theatre. So that may come down to personal taste.
2.. North Country is directed and written by the same person - and it's a pretty direction-driven show. So this original production is likely to be the best production of the show we ever see, or at the very least, the most closely aligned with the intended vision for the material. Caroline, on the other hand, will likely be revived again someday and/or produced regionally. And when that happens, it could very well be just as good as the current Broadway production.
Thank you for your opinion, J, always appreciated when someone understands what an opinion is and can express it without insulting others with different takes. ![]()

Our group had issues with the sound at Caroline . The lyrics were drowned out. We were in the 8th row of the orchestra. A frustrating evening.
Saw North Country last night and Caroline today… I’d recommend Caroline over North Country ANY day. North Country was lovely and well performed and touching, but never really gelled for me; It’s kind of a parade of misery without much relief. Came off like vignettes more than a “whole.” But Caroline really got to me on a far more emotional level.)
Ok here's another one. I'm determined to see a show on Wed Nov 10 because it's Veterans Day the next day which means I don't have to drag my ass out of bed at 6 in the morning.
Caroline, or Change or Moulin Rouge?
Are you looking for fun, great lighting, an actual good looking set and hot people???
Moulin Rouge all day, baby!

I'm looking for anything good. I saw Lackawanna Blues and Trouble in Mind this past week. I would like something really entertaining and i can't afford Six tickets right now.
Really entertaining? Yeah, Moulin Rouge. Enjoy it
, it's a great time.

That shows how rude, stubborn and immature some people on this board are. I am very opinionated, but I would never tell anyone else that their opinion is wrong just because I don't agree, it's an "opinion" and it's not wrong or right. *eye roll*
