I'll skip the deal with Drew Whats his name. We all know the story there. But, why is Cary Sheilds UNDERSTUDYING Roger???? Wasn't he an official Roger on Broadway before. I think Jeremy sucks ass. He sings so nazal. Don't we all want Roger to have a more deep throat raspy rock sound like Rick Springfield, Bryan Adams, or Adam Pacal? He is also ugly and looks too old with that goatee. Does anyone else see what I see here?
I have seen 6 Rogers, and I thought Jeremy was the best, followed by Cary. *shrug*
I *love* Jeremy and I've seen almost every Roger from Adam Pascal on. Sorry.
And yes, Cary was an official Roger but recently came back as a swing.
Big deal. Principal returns to show and understudies former role.
OH, BIG SHOCKER!!! TRAVESTY! SCANDAL!
Come on. It's not like it's never happened before.
I was not impressed by Jeremy's performance on Broadway On Broadway at all. I actually thought he was quite dreadful.
i also thought jeremy was bad at BonB but who knows what he was thinking up on stage with talent-free drew lachey. i hear he can act the part well..which is something (sorry) that Adam Pascal always struggled with.
my favorite roger - all-around - was probably Matt Caplan.

Matt's the perfect Mark, not Roger! what?!
I don't really like Jeremy's voice but his Roger is good. VERY angry though. Throws a table! haha
Matt used to understudy both Mark and Roger.
There haven't been many good Roger's or Mark's.
I wish Raul would play Roger...that would make my life, but that's never going to happen.
"There haven't been many good Roger's or Mark's."

It is late.
I'm not stupid.
I promise.

I've never seen Cary so I can't say anything about him and his abilities as Roger, but Jeremy is amazing as Roger and is a wonderful actor and singer (maybe you should take sometime to listen to his cd "In Time"). Also calling him ugly and old? (which he is not, thank you)geez... have some respect for him if not as an artist, at least as a person.
jeremy is amazing. of course the other rogers i have seen were constantine from the tour (anyone else get a front row view of the constant stream of spit? lol) and ryan link...so granted, i don't have much to compare to : ) however, i would not have gone to see the show three times in one week if he was terrible. each time i was blown away, especially because he managed to keep it fresh, so it was a little different each time (unlike matt who seemed to have his pattern down, but don't get me wrong i love him and his portrayal of mark with all my heart). i absolutley loved jeremy. can't say anything about cary however, 'cuz i haven't seen him
saw them both and love them both though im leaning more toward Jeremy his roger is so angry and i love that. Also i havent seen Cary's roger in a year, but i think they are both fantastic.

Having seen them both (and many others), Jeremy beats Cary with a stick. There's nothing worse than an actor or performer making absolutely no impression on you at all, leaving you having to dig to remember anything about their performance, and that is what Cary's Roger was to me. I could write pages upon pages about some people's portrayals of characters, and I can't even come up with a sentence for Cary. This isn't to say he's bad, or he's good, or anything. I just don't think it's a good sign that I can't remember a blessed thing about his performance, and that comes from seeing it more than once.

I was so impressed by Jeremy's performance. I thought he was aboslutely amazing. He makes strong, poignant choices and his voice is soaring and beautiful. He has amazing chemistry with current Mimi, Krystal Washington, and was just the most stellar actor I have ever seen in the role (I've also seen...Chad Richardson, Manley Pope, Peter Matthew Smith, Cary Shields, and Sebastian Arcelus). He just completely and utterly blew me away. He's like a force of nature in that show and one of the strongest, most consistent cast members currently. LOVE HIM. Bronxbound, I didn't find his voice to be nasally in the least. If anything, it's that forward placement that allows hims to sing as well as he does with as little strain as possible. He's also Canadian, so that accent comes out a bit but I have no problems with that. At any rate, I find him to be a compelling and honest actor who really gets Roger and brings him to life. GO SEE HIM.

I just think Cary's Roger and Jermey's Roger are completely different from one another. Cary's Roger doesn't have as much angry and more vulnerability to it. Jeremy's Roger is more emotional and angry. It's like you're almost watching two different characters.
I'd be anxious to see if Cary would change his Roger if he goes on for Jeremy. So if anyone get to see Cary back as Roger please let us know if it's changed at all.

JC14 and not_that_girl I totally agree!
Cary's understudying Roger? Since when?!
And bronxbound, spelling, please. It's "nasal." And Adam's last name is Pascal. Thank you.
I can't stand Jeremy. I don't know what the appeal is.
I really like Jeremy. I saw him in both Footloose and RENT, and I thought he was really great.
Out of the 3 Rogers I've seen, he's my favorite.
Theres a huge difference between not connecting with a character because of an actor, and flat out being rude. I realize not everyone will like a certain actor, personally I didn't feel Cary's voice was right for Roger. But I would never EVER insult him as an actor, or a performer as Bronx decided to put forward on Jeremy. Its disrespectful and childish. Whatever happened to seeing an actor for their talent rather then his looks (which I think Jeremy has alot of both) Its alright to not like an actors methods, but at least respect them as a human being.
i love the kushnier boys. i though jeremy was great, but i've never seen cary live
Jeremy is very talenet, but he just isnt Roger for me. I wouldnt say his voice is nasal, i would say it has a country twang to it. Maybe thats what your hearing.
