Now you've got me intrigued.

I wish I remembered more. It was so long ago. I do remember that I enjoyed it a lot, yet knew it didn't have a prayer to survive. After starting this thread, I did a Google search in hopes of finding more information. I'd love the script. No luck.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the script?
This is a very long link and I don't know if it will work, but it's an excerpt from a book called "American Theatre" and it came up when I did a Google search--it was on the second page of the results.
In summary (in case the link doesn't work), Stephen Collins (is this the same actor who was in "7th Heaven" for all those years?) is an investigative journalist who comes to London looking for information about scenes he's heard of that were cut from the "King Kong" movie before it was distributed in Europe--scenes that contained classified information for secret agents. He winds up in a tacky nightclub where he meets several strange characters(Carrie Fisher, Peter Riegert, Chris Sarandon, etc.)

Thank you for that link. It really helped to jog my memory. I remember those numbers and I remember laughing hysterically. Unlike the critics, I liked Censored Scenes From King Kong. I remember my friend David and I quoting it for quite some time after we saw it.
Scott, thank you so much for sharing your memories of the show. I would love to hear more details if you think of any.
That link did help. Thanks!

Well, in a box somewhere I have all of my old programs. As soon as time allows, I'm going to go into that box and find the program. I am sure I have at least one copy (I usually take 2 or more). I will also contact my friend David who I saw Censored Scenes From King Kong with. I know he enjoyed it as much as I did and I suspect he too with have some memories. What I want more than anything is to remember the musical numbers. I only remember them as bizarre and totally fun. I also want to see if I can remember some more of the production values. I remember thinking the set very clever.
I promise to keep you informed.
Seriously? It's a boring Playbill. LoL

So, I recently got into [tos] and was wondering about Kong- who wrote it, anyone know? Why wasn't this mentioned in Not Since Carrie? Some sources say it was a musical, other sources say it was a play... I'm lost. D:
There's some information in IBDB--I'll put the link below. They say that it had Book by Howard Schuman; Music by Andy Roberts; Lyrics by Howard Schuman.
IBDB also classifies it as a musical.

I remember it as being a play with music and musical numbers. I remember the musical numbers being really fun.

This is one of the threads that makes me never want to see title of show.

Just found out about this show and thought it was interesting that now in 2019 there's a full musical about King Kong.
